Ten (10) years to benefit from new drilling? More like Four Years (4) at most [ News video]

The first part of the video is unrelated to my thread title; it's banter from the hosts about their fan sites.
The second half of the video, however, has one of the reporters coming on-camera. He relates how he spoke to someone at TransOcean (world's largest drilling company), who gave him the REAL numbers about how long it takes to get oil "on line" once drilling has begun. He says that, in most instances, oil will start getting to the market ONE to TW YEARS after drilling -- NOT the 10 years that we keep
hearing from Democrats.

Keep in mind you are counting year from the date of the first successful oil well. There was years of work prior to getting to that oil. There was decades of searching for oil on the Alaskan North Slope before that well paid off. The survey and an seismic studies went on for quite some time before 1968.
The first Northern Alaska oil drilling was in the 1940’s.

Disgusting liberals haven’t a clue what AmeriCAN DO!!!
Ten years my patootie!!!
When the earthquakes struck San Francisco and the San
Fernando valley, entire freeways collapsed. Private
contractors (NOT CALTRANS), were unleashsed. Whole
projects were completed in MONTHS! NOT YEARS!

It’s taking us about 45 days to complete our wells. We’re drilling to 8500 ft, what they call the Canyon Sands. We’re putting crude in the tanks, in 45 days. This is not off shore, but it gives you an idea of just how fast the drilling side of this can go.

The tag line “no good for Washington to permit drilling in the Alaskan refuge because Americans wouldn’t see any oil for 10 years.” needs to be refuted and is not backed up by any historical facts.

I worked for one of the companies who built 153 miles of the trans-Alaska pipeline and with many of the guys who were there.

Facts:
Pipeline current capacity < 800,000 bls/day
Design capacity 2,100,000 bls/day
Original oil found confirmed March 1968
Legal delays to pipeline construction 1970- July 17,1973
Pipeline construction March 1975 to May 1977
First oil to pipeline June 20,1977
Pipeline length 800 miles
Distance from pump station #2 to ANWR 50 miles

Fact is that we could easily be pumping more than 1,200,000 bls/ day in the existing pipeline just as fast as the oil field is developed. Counting the 3+ years everything was in the courts, it still only took 10 years to get the oil out.

Oh by the way Original estimate was for 9.4 BBls a little less than the 10.3 BBls in ANWR. Over 15 BBls pumped already and 7 BBLs remaining with another 4 to be discovered on the North Slope alone.

If they could turn the production on in say a year - is there any law that says Exxon and others must sell this crude domestically, rather than export it to the highest bidder?
