A proposed ballot initiative to create a government commission in Denver tasked with developing a strategy to deal with space aliens on Earth has been shelved.

For the time being, anyway.

"It's on hold for now because of the confidence that I feel and a lot of people feel in the Obama administration in moving toward more disclosure of the UFO/extraterrestrial information," said Jeff Peckman, whose proposed Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission generated national headlines. ... http://www.rockymountainnews.com/news/2009/jan/22/alien-invasion-plan-on-hold/

This guy is a real scam artist and has other ventures to get $$$.

It turns out, preparing for the imminent alien invasion (http://gizmodo.com/393954/video-of-real-live-aliens-to-be-shown-to-press-tomorrow-by-this-totally-sane-guy) is only part of Jeff Peckman (http://gizmodo.com/tag/jeff-peckman/)'s craziness. He also creates and peddles "Metatron Harmonizers," little snakeoil gadgets (http://gizmodo.com/tag/gadgets/) designed to "transform the chaotic electromagnetic fields into life-supporting fields that are in harmony with the natural fields created by the human physiology." Hoo boy.

I think most people in Colorado are content to rely on shotguns in case of space alien invasions.
