It was cold last nite so I thought a bowl of hearty stew would do great, I made a ton so its stew for lunch for a few days!!

new potatos cut in quarters

In a large saute pan fry up the bacon til nice a golden. remove and save.

Start browning the meat in batches. As the meat gets browned start putting them in a large stockpot.
After all meat is browned add to the stock pot; 1/2 cup sugar, stir, the broth, thyme, bay leaves, carrots and potatos. Stir together cover and simmer on med heat.

Dang that looks good. It's funny, a lot of people forget about a hearty pork stew and tend to go for the beef variety.

I love 'em both but pork stew is great.

AND GOOD OLD WHITE BREAD!!!!!

Good with friend cornbread cakes too.
