Is 'knowing' something other than choosing to believe without being open to other possibilities and if it is, then are everyone's opinions valid? 'Valid' meaning worthy of consideration, not right, correct or true?

I don't think so. There are things that can be known and confirmed via a set of observable facts. Those who ignore observable fact in favor of a set of flat earth type beliefs that are not supported by anything other than their belief are certainly not worthy of consideration. In the areana of ideas and opinions, I suppose that everyone is on an equal footing at the beginning of a discussion, but in the realm of facts, those who ignore them in favor of their belief are sy a decided disadvantage.
