.........with the old man in the club car,
penny a point ain't no one keepin' score.

Steve Goodman wrote that song. (He also wrote You Never Even Called Me By My Name for David Allen Coe.)

I like Arlo Guthrie's version of City of New Orleans best, but there are other good ones. Cool morning on the Mountain. 33 degrees right now. Should be in the seventies this afternoon. Nice.

I love the image of a group of men in the night playing cards to pass the time during a long train ride across America. I haven't played cards in years. I always enjoyed poker. Never played bridge. Couldn't tell you a thing about Spades or Hearts or games like that.

When I was a kid we played gin rummy or setback. It was usually a collection of uncles and cousins ranging in age for the sixties to 13 or14 (that would be me). I enjoyed the card games but i also learned a lot watching these men play the game, really play it, and talk and smoke and socialize during the contest.

Great memories.

TOTD: Card games. Or just games in general. What do you like to play?

Headed toward Orange Beach Al for a day at the beach and then up to Mareietta GA to pick my new car Monday and then back to the beach for a couple of more days. Just love being a beach bum.

I have not done a stinking thing all day. I did reconenct with a couple old friends on Facebook...two of them were girlfriends. Weird.

I spent the day in Las Vegas yesterday, as I was there to take a certification board exam. I passed. :)

I will get a new title at work, some fancy initials after my last name, and a raise. This opens the door for some other opportunities. My professional license with the state will also get an upgrade and I am now nationally certified in my trade.

TOTD: Most of the games I play involve money in a casino. :) I can kick some butt in Scattergories, nobody has ever beat me!

Found out I'm getting my hours cut at work today. That's always fun. Time to start looking again. . . . .

TOTD - My family loves poker. I hate it. Euchre, spades, hearts, Rummy, Gin, some other simpler games I like - I know close to 30 different ways to play solitare . . . . . Mafia is a fun game too - and while it is played using cards - it does not actually qualify as a card game. But that's ok. :D

I used to play poker, but there is no thought behind it anymore. I'm tired of people playing A2C and getting beat that I just stopped playing.

I sometimes play online with free money every time I get the itch to play then realize why I gave the game up:rolleyes:.

That sucks.

I had that happen in December, lost 32 hours a month, found out right after I took a couple days off to help my mom after surgery. Was given 16 of them back in late Jan...things seem to be back to normal and Thursday I turned down a couple hours!

Now the problem is we are so short handed work is hell everyday.

What sucks even more is that I took a pay cut when I took this job - and I did it because the job benefits a charity I believe in. :( ANYHOW . . . . I figure another year and I may be willing to go back to teaching.

TOTD - OH YEA - my all time favorite card game is called Spite and Malice. :) Those who have played - know why and they also know why the game is so much fun :D

At least you have a back up plan.

This is about the first time in my life that I don't have alot of employment choices. At least not in this town.

In this town - I don't have any employment choices in my field. In this town - politics are so deeply entrenched in teaching that you need someone to back you before you'll even get considered. :( We'd have to move and we have some restrictions that limit our relocation abilities - where ever we'd move to would have to have certain amenities and facilities that we need.

Just perfect. 70ish and sunny with low humididity.

TOTD: Poker and you can always count on a game of rummy breaking out when the family gets together. Although, my Father who takes it far too seriously, takes the fun out of it.

Keep playing those donks who play A2 unsuited and in the long run you'll take their money.

Used to play rummy, screw your neighbor, whist, gin, canasta, cribbage. Now trying to find a deck of cards with the full deck is impossible (yup, I'm a few cards short of a full deck).

Visitation weekend, this video perfectly depicts my weekend!

You gotta run over em' during mating season, they are in full plummage then.

Yup, she does have it good though. I have a pool like that, but no goats yet, but am working on it. Heck the yard is fenced, sorta wasted if there is no livestock.

Moving and relocation is tough & expensive. I hope things work out.
