My wife asked me this last night about the Fair Tax. She said if I can answer this, she'd be for it.

"What about senior citizens on social security? Would they get more money to offset the increase in the cost of goods?"

You need to educate yourself buddy! Get the book or go to Fairtax.org and read up, its the best thing since sliced bread! Come on over to the dark side, lets keep our money!

The FairTax benefits retirees who depend mostly on Social Security.
For older, low-income households, the FairTax generates a major reduction in remaining lifetime
taxes. Again, the reason is that the elderly not only continue, under the FairTax, to receive the
same real Social Security benefits, they also receive the FairTax prebate. The average Social
Security benefits for a retired couple living solely on Social Security are $18,776. The FairTax
prebate for this couple is $4,697 which is $381 more than the FairTaxes the couple would have
to pay if they spent the entire $18,776 on taxable consumption.
Let’s look at a single 60-year-old earning $15,000 a year. His or her average remaining
lifetime tax rate falls from 9.8 percent to -28.0 percent! Middle-income and upper-income
seniors also experience lower average lifetime tax rates under the FairTax compared to the
current tax system. High-income seniors experience average remaining lifetime tax rates under
the FairTax of 18.2 percent for singles and 19.3 percent for couples. However, these rates are
significantly lower than what they would experience under the current system: 40.8 percent for
singles and 41.5 percent for couples.
In general, the FairTax offers several other benefits to seniors. The FairTax repeals the
taxation of Social Security benefits and adjusts Social Security indexing to preserve the
purchasing power of seniors. The FairTax ends all record keeping and income tax filings of any
kind for seniors, totally insulating them from the high costs and abusive tactics of tax preparers.
The FairTax repeals the income tax imposed on investment income and pension benefits or IRA
withdrawals. No form of savings or investment is taxed. The beneficiaries and owners of
pension funds, IRAs, and 401(k) plans (with assets of over $11 trillion in 2003) will not have to
pay taxes on these plans upon withdrawal, despite taking an income tax deduction for the
contributions to most of these plans. (For a complete discussion of these benefits, please see
“The FairTax Benefits Seniors,” available at
http://www.fairtax.org/PDF/The_FairTax_benefits_seniors_11-7-06.pdf).

I'm for the Fair Tax. Considering I don't spend that much money, I'd be happier than a pig in shit. My wife tends to over think things. She don't trust anything to actually help the middle class.

There would have to be a constitutional amendment to prevent the government from restarting the federal income tax while the national sales tax was in effect.

The Fair Tax has no chance of passing, and neither does an amendment to repeal the 16th as long as socialists control the government. Until we can remove the socialists the UNFAIR tax will continue to be levied.

It is my understanding that the fair tax exempts most essentials like food etc.

This would be essential for my support also. Otherwise, next time a liberal gets control, they simply would reinstate the income tax and then we would be stuck with both.

As Boortz and Linder have said it hinges on repealing the 16th, and not to mess with the actual workings of the fairtax. Once the Pols start adding thier little pet vanities to it its just another gov boondaggle!

Remember this was researched by private individuals with thier own money, no special interests came about.
It would be the ultimate stimulus!

Believe me, its too good to be true, I hope to see it in my lifetime.

if barry passed this bill he would look like the best president that has ever been elected. if he just buckled down and got agressive about cutting down his budget and getting corperations to come here not leave us then he would look like a the fucking economic equivlent to jesus christ.

socialism and cap and trade do not work look at the EU they produce hardly anything and consume a ton.

3 things need to happen for the fair tax to get in imo

1. Overwhelming Republican Congress Majority which i think will happen in 2010
2. advertizing the Fair Tax more on websites tv radio. explaining what it is
3. community awareness get active america we can do this just needs to be an attack on all ends.
