BEIT EL, Israel In defiance of President Obama's call to halt all Jewish construction in the West Bank, Jewish youth this week built a new outpost in the strategic territory and named it after the U.S. president.

"Obama Hilltop," or "Givat Obama" in Hebrew, is located between Jerusalem and the biblical city of Beit El.

The builders told the Arutz Sheva news website the name of their new small community is "in recognition of the president's actions, which have led to a dramatic increase in the number of outposts being built throughout Judea and Samaria (the West Bank)."

The "Obama Hilltop" was one of at least six new outposts that went up in the West Bank this week. An outpost is a makeshift community built without Israeli government permits.
