We had some excitement yesterday when a tornado damaged a Lowe's in Aurora. Also golf ball sized hail ruined a lot of gardens and cars out there. One guy was seriously injured when he ran outside to take pics.

I was completely unaware of the whole thing since we only got rain up where I live.

Had a tornado hit the base and surrounding town today. We're doing fine, but there was lots of damage to the area.

Glad you both are ok! :)

djones, did that tornado come out of those storms this morning? We got
hit pretty good at work with some pebble size hail and 50+ mph gusts. Then
they went Severe after they hit us.

No. This happened about 5:30pm. I was in O'fallon when it hit. It was easily less then a mile from where I was. Rain was blowing sideways, visibility was 0. Windows woulda have been sucked out and shattered if they wheren't the storm resistant type. They where bowing out pretty hard.

I was scared out of my mind for my wife and kid... they where supposed to be in a part of town that got hit, and I couldn't get ahold of them. Thankfully they had left just before it hit there, and had gone to Walmart instead.

Yikes! I'm reading about it in the paper this morning. You guys were lucky and it sounds like no one in the area was hurt so that's a good thingy. :)

So glad you and your family are safe. Was there much damage at the AFB?

We've had so many storms the last couple years that sadly we don't have many trees to fall down on the house.

One of the housing area's took a hit. Trees down all over the base. One of the power polls right off base was busted in half. I don't know if any major structural damage took place though. I'll probably find out tonight when I go into work.

Big Storms all around us tonight! So far all the heavy stuff
is just south of the house...I've already seen a hook echo
on TWC radar...possible tornado.

This is where the fun begins...:D

I'm keeping an eye on a storm thats about 12 miles from here heading right at me. Rotation is starting to show up, and it's already dropped .75" hail.

Rotation seems to be weakening on all these storms, so I think we're gonna get lucky for tonight. Gonna have a real good lightning show. Hopefully the hail doesn't get to bad though.
