Pennsylvania could be largely devoid of bats within two to three years.
That's the startling and sad outlook foreseen by Greg Turner as the sudden and mysterious white-nose syndrome fungus sweeps through the state.

"I don't think anyone thinks we can stop it. We'll easily be losing millions of bats. The best we can do is try to slow it until a miracle cure is found. But I think that's pretty slim," says Turner, Pennsylvania Game Commission biologist and endangered mammal specialist.

"Recovery will span generations."

When all the critters are gone we will eat the vegetarians!:mad: We should start with the skinnies first... the vegans likely dont taste that good. The skinnies prolly have good meat between their ribs.

Bat does taste like chicken. At least that's what my wife says. Actually, she likes them better than chicken. This is what she used to make into curry growing up in the Indian Ocean. Yum.

Little stuff like that takes to long to butcher. I used to raise quail by the hundred but it was to time consuming to dress them.

I hope this doesn't spread from PA. There are lots of bats around Michigan, and they have kept the West Nile Virus from being any kind of major health problem.
Although, the Boy Scouts who build the bathouses in poor neighborhoods also should get some credit.

Yeah, bat generations.

Get a grip. Whatever this is, it will burn through the population killing most but conferring immunity or high resistance to a few. A few who will instantly go into a breeding frenzy. Unaffected bats from outside the area will come in to opportunistically colonize. The new and newly immune bats will also interbreed.

Five years later it's bat paradise.

These apocalyptic pronouncements do nothing aside from making "scientists" look like raving idiots. A few years ago West Nile killed almost every magpie and crow along the Front Range. it was The End Of Life As We Know It. Today you practically trip over the crows and magpies.
