July 4 (Bloomberg) -- North Korea test fired seven short- range missiles today, after similar launches earlier this week, spurring condemnations from South Korea and Japan.

North Korea fired two missiles between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. local time, one at 10:45 a.m., one around noon, one at 2:50 p.m., another at 4:10 p.m. and one at 5:40 p.m., from Kitdaeryong in Kangwon province, the South’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said in statements.

“South Korea’s military is fully prepared to deal with any threats and provocations by the North, based on a strong joint defense alliance with the U.S.,” the statements added.

North Korea fired the missiles off its east cost, Yonhap news reported earlier, citing a government official. The missiles are estimated to have a range of as much as 500 kilometers (310 miles), enough for the North to strike most of South Korea, the Korean-language news agency said.

I have no problem with what they did.

It seems we test rockets, and they test missles. Just propaganda on our part.

Why can't they test missles ?

We don't have enough artillery filled with chemical and biological weapons to kill several million people, targetted at a civilian city populated by millions.

"It is a provocative act that clearly violates UN Security Council resolutions 1695,"

That might be a good reason, but of course, nobody takes the U.N seriously.

A brilliant statement. Absolutely brilliant. How the hell did Obama miss picking you for the state department? It's a damn shame.

Actually Super, Kimmy over in NK is thumbing his finger at
the Prez and laughing. And the other reason he's shooting off all
those rockets is the expiration date is coming up soooo....:D

Let hundreds of thousands die, for the sake of responding to someone impotently firing missiles in defiance?

No thanks.

It's good and all to want to take an overly aggressive stance against N. Korea, but are we really willing to incur the casualties of this war, over something like this?

And you think they won't respond? One order needs to be passed down the line to make Seoul dissapear.

We don't want to give the Norks a reason to do that. They need to appear as if their defending themselves, not being the aggressor. Making an attack at a uniformed target like that would give them all the justification they needed to unleash hell.

It would depend on how it was done and who appeared to be to blame.

If it where that easy, I'm pretty sure it would have been done by now. There are plenty of countries in that region who would breathe a lot easier with that regime gone.

The Norks have over 5000 artillery tubes within range of, and aimed at, Seoul.
It would take us days to take them all out using conventional weapons.

Wouldn't be much left of Seoul by the time we did.

Taking Kimmy out would only make sense if we were sure the
military leaders left behind would embrace the kind of change
the West wants. Since lord knows what kind of atrocities the
leadership has done to it's own people they might just say
screw it and attack, go for broke and hope the rest of the world
acts like our current President.
