One of the Monty Python troop’s most successful and hilarious films has just been voted the most controversial film of all time by fellow movie lovers in London. The news comes on the eve of an upcoming 40th anniversary reunion planned for the comedy troupe this fall in which Michael Palin, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Terry Gilliam will all appear for a short musical based on Monty Pythons Life of Brian entitled Not the Messiah (He’s a very naughty boy). The only member of Python which will not be in attendance will be Graham Chapman who sadly passed away back in 1989.

It is Life of Brian which was voted the most controversial film of all time besting films like A Clockwork Orange and The Last House on The Left with the polls spokesmen stating:

“The success of films like Life Of Brian proves that scandal sells.”

One of my favorite films. And backed by my favorite Beatle: George Harrison.

I think it was "Blessed are the cheesemakers".

"Well, obviously, this is not meant to be taken literally. It refers to any manufacturers of dairy products. "

I was a teen when the movie came out. I love it, and the other two big Monty Python movies (Holy Grail and Meaning Of Life). I don't think I saw it at the theater, but I know I watched it on cable as a teen. I had the end song (Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life) on my answering machine for a while.

When it came out, people in Grand Rapids condemned it. One of my mom's catholic friends was highly offended, even though she didn't see it. But at that time, GR was past the point where people would protest in front of the theater, like they did over Jesus Christ, Superstar and Oh, God.
