Just wondering.

I have friends from work that I socialize with, but I never go to company functions, such as Christmas parties, picnics and such.

How about you?

I meet 2 married lady friends at Parrains Seafood Restaurant every 4 to 6 weeks for early supper. Since retirement, I don't go to their parties or dances.

I go out to lunch with coworkers on a regular basis. I occasionally will have an after-work glass of wine with a couple of them. My best friend is someone I met through work, although she is retired now.

I don't go to the county-wide christmas parties and such, they are usually expensive affairs. Some of my coworkers attend my church, so I see them on Sundays.

Well since I have a small company and one of my best friends is my foreman, his wife is my secretary and my son is my 2nd in command, I guess yes, I socialize with them! :D

I don't even like talking to them at work.

I socialize with a couple of people from work (although we don't work doing the same thing) and like noonwitch, I met my BFF at work (she's since moved on workwise).

I have gradually stopped attending all social/business hybrid functions. Networking in my field doesn't get done over drinks or company softball games. It gets done online or during conferences. I quit attending the Christmas Party the year it became the Holiday Party. Luckily, my field doesn't contain very many rampant extroverts so none of this is an issue for anybody.

I'm in a sales organization with many rowdy sales reps, the sterotypical sales types. I don't socialize with them, but do go to the company Christmas party. (Or I did---this year it was the "holiday" party at the end of January). I was ticked off with the "holiday" thing, but it was at Busch stadium with a tour of the stadium. My principles were overcome by my love of all things Cardinal. :D

There are only 2 people that I socialize at all with at work. It's a place with many little groups. Since most of the sales reps are in their 20's, they tend to stick together and ignore the veterans there.

I have a group of people from a past job that I still socialize with - and I do go to "company" parties and such - it's kind of expected and almost demanded in my field.

I rarely socialize with co workers. I did a weekend at Penn State with a sales lady friend, and she started drinking before noon while I paced myself. She was passed out by 11pm... just when I was ready to party. I won't make that mistake again.

I also have a male coworker who I like and respect enough to socialize with outside of work. He is invited to the shindig this evening when we are all getting together to celebrate my sons last full week before he leaves for Sweden.

I go to our annual picnic, where the Board of Directors grills burgers, brats and dogs for us.
I also go to the annual Christmas party.

Other than that...No.

All the time. Some of my best friends are people I used to work with.

I got my present job, through a friend. So, yes we still socialize, at a poker table mainly. :D

I socialize with people from work. In fact, I don't know how to meet new friends outside of church and work right now. Sounds pathetic, but it's the truth.

I can't :(
Unfortunately my life is work.... kid....work. But as a manager I have to maintain some sort of distance, and I am sure that my presence is not comfortable on all occassions. I mean who wants to have a few drinks and complain about the boss when she is at the same table?

Over the years, I have met alot of great people at work, although we rarely stay in touch after one of us moves on down the path. But some of my best firends have been met on the job.

In my current occupation there are a couple that I'm friendlier with then others, but we each share different types of bonds, but I don't socialize with them outside of work. With the exemption of one or two.

I'm the type of person that I would do anything for anyone, even if I did not care for them at work. Work is just work...
