Hot and dry on The Mountain. We could use some rain.

Yesterday marked the 40th anniversary of the start of Woodstock 1969.

TOTD: Were you at Woodstock? Okay, do you wish you had been at Woodstock?

Alternate TOTD:What concert or concerts have you attended that you really enjoyed.

Been sick for 2 days but it looks like rain for us today, so 1 more day cooped up!

TOTD: No way, I was 13 at that time and my crowd hated hippies! :D We were jocks and grease monkeys!
They wore wierd clothes and we wore jeans and white t-shirts!
I liked some of the music tho.

Craziest concert I've been to was Phish and the best concert was The Allman Brothers with Pure Prarie League.

Wasn't there, never cared for smelly hippies either. A lot of good music though.

I think that half of DU was there though, and the other half was conceived there...in the mud.

Clear and slightly warm here in New England. Bach'ing it today as the girlfriend's in Miami (where it's raining :D) for a two day class in veneers. Waiting for Tottenham v Liverpool on FSC and getting a bit of work done. Back to Rochester tomorrow morning for one more week.

TOTD: I was a teenager when Woodstock happened living down South in Jacksonville. I remember my parents' impression of the event which was, well let's say, "not positive." Looking back, I would have liked to have gone simply for the historical significance.

TOTD2: Dylan/Baez at FL Field, Moody Blues at the Wolf Trap, Buffet at the Merriweather Post Pavilion

Nice cool morning, later today mid 90's (again). :(

The best concerts?

Rush and ZZ Top in Germany on Halloween

Rolling Stones

Huey Lewis and the News

Pink Floyd

Motley Crue

Hinder will be a Midnight rope a ho on Sept 16th, I was thinking of going to that....

edit to add; The very best was, Yes when I was 15 and my date was 22 and she never heard of them!

If I could step in a time machine and go back for those three days, I would.

With a backpack full of bottled water, granola bars, two bottles of Jim Beam, some cigars, and a camera, I'd be like an anthropologist on a field trip. I'd hang out, get drunk, smoke cigars, listen to music....kinda like I do now....and have a big time.

And heck, while I'm back in '69 I'd stay for the World Series.

I've been to hundreds of concerts, but I think the best one was Bowie during the Glass Spiders tour.

Saw him in Berlin on the lawn of the Reichstag.

On the left side was the Berlin Wall. The East German kids were congregating along the wall on the Commie side, so they could hear the concert.

You could smell the tear gas wafting over when they "dispersed" them.

I remember a little about Woodstock in the news as it was happening but everything else about it is based on stories, memories, and of course, concert and news footage of the event in documentaries and of course the Woodstock movie.

Remember the Show Live at Wolf Trap?

Been to the New Orleans Jazz Festival many times. Most memorable was a concert at the Pete Marivch Assembly Center on the LSU campus. The week-long state fair had been rained out. Willie Nelson, Paychek, the Hag, Jones and others performed for 12 hours. It was kinda like a Woodstock day with all the booze and grass brought in after the cops left.

That would have been a Great show.

I haven't thought about Pistol Pete Maravich in a while. He was amazing.

I'm sitting in a lounge chair under a big tree looking out over the lake right now. There is not a soul around. Other than my wife and I and our two favorite dogs. My favorite concert was outdoors in the late 70's. The Doobie brothers, cars and cheap trick!

TOTD: woodstock? no and NO. hell my parents weren't even old enough to have gone to woodstock!

Concerts? I've only ever been to one and it was too damn loud. Went and saw Chicago in concert with of all people the head of a religious order! She had such a blast that it made up for almost going deaf.

I didn't fish this time. Next time I'll take the boat or kayak . It is a small lake but it's ful of bass, crappie and sunfish.Their are two ranches that own all the shoreline exept the ten acres we bought they didn't know that piece had gone up for sale or they would have bought it. I just kicked back in the lounge today and laughed at the dogs!

It is an old mountain range that has deteriorated to hills . The highest peak in the area is like a hundred feet short of being a mountain. The wood is a mixture of pine, shagbark hickory, pignut hickory and oak.

Cool. It is so nice to have a place to get away. I'm happy for you and your family to have a neat place like that to go.

Where I live on The Mountain we're out in the woods, which is nice, but my Mom and Grandmother and Brother and Uncle and Mother-in-Law live on the Mountain too.

When me and Miz Bubba want to get away, we like to go to Edisto Island SC. We hope to be there next weekend. Tomorrow is our 24th anniversary. :)

Miz Bubba's Uncle Clarence lives in Denison Texas, which is right up close to Oklahoma I think.

If we take the Mother-in-Law to visit Uncle Clarence, can I come see your goats?

She's talkin' about next year to go see him.

Ya'll catch 'em and I'll cook 'em.

I can dig up our tent. It's in the shed somewhere. I can also bring a propane fish cooker that we can use to boil peanuts, which I would bring too.

Last time I camped, the ground seemed awfully hard. I'm sure Oklahoma is very comfortable.

We could smoke some brisket with pure hickory and fish in the morning and evening. Fall and spring are the best when this heat goes down a little.
