"At a dinner to celebrate Bill Clinton's first presidential victory [Rahm Emanuel] began to reel off the names of those who had 'crossed' him. He grabbed a steak knife and began plunging it into the table shouting "Dead! Dead! Dead!" after each name.

"When he was done the table looked like a lunar landscape," a witness relates. "It was like something out of The Godfather. But that's Rahm for you." Times of London

When it comes to politicians I feel a lot more dubious about fanaticism. Zealots always have blind spots. I don't mind total dedication in monks or in US Marines. But leaders are supposed to be mature, wise, and thoughtful. They are supposed to be open-minded about policy choices, so they can figure out the best ones to go for. That's what we elect them for.
..................................
The looming ObamaCare fiasco is a classic example of a public policy plan that has never been weighed against the alternatives. .............................
Even liberal economists are saying it. Any consistent reader of the Wall Street Journal knows more about healthcare options than the Obama administration's "experts" do. That's why ObamaCare fails so badly against choices that are more practical, far less expensive, and much more humane and respectful to all concerned. O-Care is simply not a result of a balanced, fair-minded assessment of human needs and costs.
....................................
On the contrary. It is a plan so single-minded, so monomaniacal, so disruptive, grandiose and blind to the alternatives that it is even now crashing in the minds of a shell-shocked public.
...........................................
This is the result of fanaticism, not balanced thinking. That seems to be President Obama's way. This White House defines a goal like Arab-Israeli Peace in the Middle East, or Health Care for All, and goes hell for leather, damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead --

without ever pausing to think, or to listening to people who have spent decades dealing with these questions --

if they dissent from Obama orthodoxy. Any opposition is interpreted as bad faith rather than reasoned disagreement. Critics must be evil or racist. That is the state of mind of jihadis going on suicide missions. It is not how intelligent policy makers operate.
.............................................
And of course we have a Secretary of State who wrote her Wellesley thesis on on Saul Alinsky. She used an Alinsky quote for her title, in big capital letters:

THERE IS ONLY THE FIGHT

There was no careful analysis by the voting public or the DIMWITocRATS themselves on policy, ideology, or suitability to lead this country. There was only raw emotion based on tingly feelings, or in the case of DIMWITocRATS and their pissboys in the media, blatant liberal ideology. They mean to push this crap on all of us because they just "know" it is for our own good. Americans need to re-read the Declaration of Independance. We may need to exercise its message some day soon.

Politicians of all stripes seem fanatical at times. Rahm Emmanuel is not the president, just one of his flunkies.

It's just as scary to have a one who thinks God chose him to be president in order to fight terrorism.

I could give a hoot in hell what one "thinks." It is the "ideology made real" by a socialist dictator that scares me.

O Blah Blah wants to shove his idea of the Ideal America down our throats and becomes indignant when we say no thank you. His narcissism knows no end.

Lincoln at times felt that it was divine providence that put him in the position to preserve the union and fight the civil war. He didn't turn out that bad.

Does Obama err by leaning on Lincoln?

You'd better not say that on any Dim board...you'd be roundly condemned for racism.

Unfortunately for you, the majority of historians and Americans have a somewhat higher opinion of him. I don't see how he could have destroyed the Constitution, 145 years later, and it's still hanging around.

I'm pretty sure Obama is one of Emmanuel's flunkies. Obama may have the title, but he is nothing but a figurehead for others to manipulate. The man is a bad joke.

All Though a much diluted document .He left us with a far more aggressive Federal Government and a Run Away Congress ! Not to even Mention the IRS !All things considered a much weaker America.

He preserved the Union at the expense of a loss of liberty and States rights. The power shifted away from the owners of the Union to the servants of the Union, Exactly what Jefferson warned us of !

I think you are correct in saying that Obama is a flunky of Emmanuel. He know more about politics than this presidential puppeteer will ever know.

I don't think so .Obama has a very strong ego and would never allow Emanuel to control him. He needs his advice and contacts but Obama is the man .

They all have their places and duty's and if you look at the photo's the White House has published of their staff meetings it's clear that Obama is the one.

Emanuel is the big staff dog and Ramrods the issues when needed and along with Axelrod and Gibbs they guide Obama but Emanuel is the Chief of staff and has the final say in advising Obama .

Emanuel is a profane, power driven, tyrannical nasty little critter who gets his way by intimidating his opponents and running rough shod through any who get in his way .He has proven himself to be slightly unhinged and prone to vindictiveness, is very revenge driven, a rather shallow man !

Obama's experience is limited to his Community organization days with ACORN and SEIU and a few months in the Congress. He depends on Emanuel to twist arm's and raise hell with those Congressional wimps whom he is able to terrorize.

Who really controls Emanuel is anyone's guess but I would Say Soros along with The San Francisco International Billionares club !Someone put up an awfully large pile of money to elect Obama and they are watching their investments carefully through Rahm Emanuel !

I agree with Meg. The size of O Blah Blah's EGO and his primary personality trait, Narcisist, makes him the man. Rahm may push O Blah Blah in a direction, but O Blah Blah is the center.
