New Fee on Health Insurance Companies Is Proposed to Help Expand Coverage

"By Hook Or By Crook !"

In a last effort to give the Senate a bipartisan health care bill, the chairman of the Senate Finance Committee circulated a comprehensive proposal on Sunday to overhaul the health care system and proposed a new fee on insurance companies to help pay for coverage of the uninsured. ...

The proposal by Mr. Baucus does not include a public option, or a government-run insurance plan, to compete with private insurers, as many Democrats want. ... It remains to be seen how Mr. Baucus’s plan might mesh with any proposals Mr. Obama lays out as he tries to pump up support..

More "help" from our elected ones...
Mandate a new tax on insurance companies. Those who are paying, pay more. Those who don't, get a freebie plan. In the mean time they keep reminding us how the evil insurance companies are too expensive.

We're going to end up paying for this no matter what happens.:(

We already pay for it. As Medicare reimburses hospitals for 65% of the cost of treatments, insurance billings make up the difference. By the time the government gets done adding their new red tape and personnel to the healthcare mess, we'll be paying at least twice as much so that the uninsured can do exactly what they do now...walk into an ER and be treated.

I think Obummer taking over health care is just the tip of the iceberg. Next will be energy. Big bad oil will be taxed to death and we can expect high gas prices. It looks like to me this idiot is doing everything he can to destroy private enterprise.
