"South Carolina Republican Rep. Joe Wilson shouted "You lie!" after Obama had talked about illegal immigrants."....

It's been about an hour, maybe more, but I respect the heck out of Representitive Wilson for his so called outburst. I think Congress needs a lot more outbursts and we as citizens need to do some outburst(ing), more and more in our lives as we try our best to survive the present goverment.

Sorry for being too dramatic but I think my new favorite Rep Wilson is a kickass politician, the kind we need down here in Florida and the other 49 States.

Thank you Joe Wilson.

Sorry but he pussied out and apologized later (http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0909/Wilson_apologizes.html). Way to stand up for your principles Republicans. This is why you guys won't win back control because you are all spineless cowards.

I disagree with his interjection during the speech.

I would disapprove if the Dems did it to a GOP president and I disapprove now. It is the OFFICE that deserves at least enough respect to let them speak.

Response after can be as sharp and to the point as you like. One may simply quote that part of the speech and call it an outright lie. Fair game. But I really don't want to see us sink to the level of Korean politics. Civility is still a part of how America works.

I do admit to a bit of emotional glee seeing Obama's reaction to it but it is to my discredit that I enjoyed it :D

Can the same be said for the thousand standing ovations? So it's ok to stand and applaud when you agree but one must remain silent when faced with a bald faced lie? Oh, remember when Pelosi out right laughed during Bush's State of the Union address in 2003? So basically liberals can do it but not conservatives. To be honest, I was happy to see that a Republican had a pulse only to see him pussy out later. Talk about letting the air out of the balloon.

Like feeling all the air go out of the sails of McCain's campaign during his election run when he started scolding his supporters for being too boisterous!

Now that Republican will vote for the Healthcare Plan to make amends. What a lot of pussies.

I know everyone won't agree with me. It's OK. It's a free country - at least some places are still free :D

Shouting like that is startling to us, because it's not part of our tradition. Have you ever seen the floor of the House of Commons when the Prime Minister comes to speak? Shouting, catcalls, and everything but throwing eggs. It's a fine British tradition that somehow didn't make it over here.

How many fist fights break out in Taiwan's Parliament? At least one a year, so I will not shed a tear cause one honest and good congressmen dared to speak truth to power. :D

After reading some of the fallout this morning and seeing politicians like John McCain chastise the Representative I would have to disagree with all of them.

I think that in the weeks and months to come Rep. Joe Wilson's outburst is going to become a rallying cry for those of us that want to see tougher immigration law and better enforcement of the laws we already have.

The way I see it, anytime the POTUS or Congress tries to get the illegals included in the so-called Health Reform Bill they're going to get a big face of "YOU LIED" thrown at them. The White House spin machine is going to have a tough time with this one.

As for Joe Wilson's retraction, I'm deeply disappointed in that.

Here is the way I would have written it: (Joe Wilson as written by Fergus) I have been asked to come out here to meet with the press this evening and apologize for my outburst during the President's speech to Congress. Folks, I'm here to tell you I'm not going to do that. For too long the President and the leadership in Congress have sought every means possible to weaken this country by allowing people to live here illegally and take advantage of our tax funded schools, hospitals and services. I will not apologize. I will, however, ask for an apology from the Congressional leadership as well as the President for allowing illegals to stay here. After their apology they will need to enact laws that will strengthen this country and get it back on the track of prosperity and safety.

I'm with you. Maybe it wasn't proper, but it was honest.

Worse things have been done on the floor of the Congress. Preston Brooks comes to mind.

Still. I would not have yelled it out either. Pretty tacky. But it begs the question of when we are all so fed up with these morons that we start shouting them all down instead of debating them?

Does not matter in the least that he apologized for we all know he didn't mean it.

Joe Wilson makes me proud to be from South Carolina.

But most important he would have made Patrick Henry proud!!

My thoughts on this little episode are that Mr. Wilson did good by saying it and fucked up by saying "I'm sorry". You pull something like that you either stick to your guns or you should have kept your big mouth shut.

Funny, I never heard of any Dems saying "I'm sorry" when they booed W during
one of his addresses.

I don't understand why you socialists use retarded as a derogatory term. Obama did it making fun of special Olympics and Hitler killed many thousands of the handicapped. What is a shame is when people don't use all of the intellect God gave them. Why don't you use all the intelligence God gave you?

The President FALSELY called Republicans liars 4 times in the 2 minutes preceding the congressman's outburst.

I haven't heard anyone calling for him to apologize.

Mr. Wilson was at least telling the truth.
