I like them both but I have to say that a vodka martini with Grey Goose beats any other martini made with gin.

And I like my martini dirty too.

I'm more of a fan of the brown mumbler.

But if I have to have a martini, vodka all the way.

You're so old, scientists can tell how many hurricanes you've been through by the spaces in your wrinkles.

Shaddup!

You mean to tell me you've never gone to a bar and ordered an "old person's" drink? I bet you ordered Cosmo's after Sex & the City became popular. A martini is no different.

I like them both. If I had to pick, I'd go with gin, but each have qualities I like.

Grey Goose is marvelous. Tanqueray 10 martini is excellent.

That was so lame it almost warranted something about your mother and combat boots.

Oban 14yr old single malt here but this isn't a thread about scotch, it is about the elixir called a martini.

Gin or vodka?

Good one CW. IF, and I do say IF, I had to narrow it down to one whisky, I would choose scotch.

Glad I don't have to choose. :D

Gin. If you're going to do something decadent - do it right. A vodka martini is like speed-reading semi-pornographic chick lit. There's no reason to do it in the first place but if you do it, don't brag about it.

True Shooter.

Sometimes you have a taste for something different. I don't drink sourmash or bourbon that often but I love Jim Beam now and then. And George Dickel too.

I even drink untaxed corn liquor now and then.
