View Full Version : Moral Politics (a political test)

This is, in my opinion, a political test which is superior to the "Political Compass", which you are already familiar with (the Political Compass was severely biased towards the left). In addition to placing yourself on the "moral matrix" however, you can also see the results of everyone else, grouped by country. As an example, this is the overview of US citizens (260 085 people so far):
http://www.moral-politics.com/xpolitics.aspx?menu=Home&action=Distribution&choice=United%20States

Keep in mind that this test uses the true definitions of the words -- not the distorted US definitions. Socialists are democrats, while liberals are more like "classical liberals", such as Thomas Jefferson and Adam Smith.

1. 26.65% liked Socialism.
2. 6.09% liked Authoritarianism.
3. 21.83% liked Conservatism.
4. 24.94% liked Liberalism.
5. 20.50% straddled systems.

My personal position is in the left-half of ultra-capitalism -- that is to say, I'm a social moderate and an advocate of laissez-faire capitalism.

Take the test here. (http://www.moral-politics.com/)

ULTRA LIBERALISM

Ultra Liberalism is an extreme form of Economic Liberalism.

It is the view (sometimes called Minimal Statism, or Minarchism) that government should be as small as possible.

Ultra-liberalist usually agree that government should be restricted to its "minimal" state functions of government (courts, police, prisons, defense). Some other minarchists include in the role of government the management of essential common infrastructure (roads, money). For Ultra-Liberals, the role of government in enforcing moral order should be limited to null.

Minarchists often accept as valid some of current government's domain, and consider it more urgent to stop the expansion of government than to reduce its domain to any particular size. Minarchists are generally opposed to government programs which transfer wealth or which subsidize certain sectors of the economy.

Capital Democratism is a form of Moderate Liberalism.

Capital Democrats are in favor of a Capitalist market economy and a looser moral order (legalized abortion, acceptance of alternative lifestyles, environmental issues, gun-control,...) .

There is much debate over how to define Capitalism. Some proponents of capitalism emphasize the role of (presumably efficient) free markets, which, they claim, promote freedom and democracy. For many, capitalism hinges on the elaboration of an economic system in which goods and services are traded in markets, and capital goods belong to non-state entities [Independence], onto a global scale. For others, it is defined by the creation of a labor market in which most people had to sell their labor-power in order to survive.

Wait, I'm against abortion, this isn't fair. Maybe I am a liberal in the classical sense then. And I never advocated gun-control.

The hell? Would this put me more to the right or what?

Not sure what that meant, but the defense of life should be a Republican principle shouldn't it? I am unhappy being placed on the left!
