Just 41% of voters nationwide now favor the health care reform proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats. That’s down two points from a week ago and the lowest level of support yet measured.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 56% are opposed to the plan.

Senior citizens are less supportive of the plan than younger voters. In the latest survey, just 33% of seniors favor the plan while 59% are opposed. The intensity gap among seniors is significant. Only 16% of the over-65 crowd Strongly Favors the legislation while 46% are Strongly Opposed.

Intensity has been with the opposition from the beginning of the public debate. Currently, among all voters 23% Strongly Favor the legislative effort and 43% are Strongly Opposed.

Also, from the beginning of the debate, the has been a huge partisan divide. Currently 75% of Democrats favor the plan. Seventy-nine percent (79%) of Republicans are opposed, as are 72% of the unaffiliated.

Rasmussen Reports will continue to track support for the plan on a weekly basis (see day-by-day numbers).

As Scott Rasmussen, president of Rasmussen Reports, wrote recently in the Wall Street Journal: “The most important fundamental is that 68% of American voters have health insurance coverage they rate good or excellent … Most of these voters approach the health care reform debate fearing that they have more to lose than to gain.” A Rasmussen video report shows that 53% of those with insurance believe . . . .CONTINUED (http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/current_events/healthcare/september_2009/health_care_reform)

Which is why it's important to PERSONALLY let your reps and sens know how you feel. CALL THEIR OFFICES!! If they fear that taking a stand could cost them their re-election bids . . . they'll reconsider.

Not if they are democrat. They are willing to sacrifice themselves to install socialism. They are probably promised jobs in the coming dictatorship.

Don't bet on it. Some will - true - but enough are selfish enough to want to keep their jobs.

Politicians are the most selfish, self-absorbed, corrupt people in this country. If they believe they'll get kicked out of their job...they will do anything, vote anyway, to keep that from happening. Look at Arlen Specter...they'll even change party if they believe they will lose enough votes.

I think they will ignore us but there will be hell to pay if they do!

I can not believe 33% of Seniors support this Obamanation. The assholes in AARP should wise them up. However, they are in the Prez pocket.

I have called my Congressman, the only problem is I don't believe there are many other citizens voicing their opinions to him.

Then do like I do - raise awareness that other people SHOULD be calling them. I often call in front of people so that they see that they can do it too. :)

Don't really have time to do so, I usually call after 5. It's hard to find time to do much during the day as I work in a busy department for the State of Florida.

Email works too - but doesn't always show them exactly how angry you really are.
