Impossible!!! Michelle Obama made monumental sacrifices to go there to instruct them on who was going to host the Olympics...

That's gotta be a blow to the first camel's ego....

Oh, how I love seeing the Obamas being told no...

11:29 a.m., ET: Chicago is out. The Windy City has been removed from consideration after just one round of voting. Tokyo went out in the second round, leaving Rio de Janeiro and Madrid.

Madrid and Rio are the last 2 standing where the winner will be announced around noon today.

Tough titty for the Obama's. Saved the taxpayers of this country a cool billion dollars. The city is broke and the Feds would have bankrolled it.

We know who is to blame really.

Senator Rowland Burris of Illinois, the Senator who was appointed to fill President Barack Obama’s vacant Senate seat, blames George Bush for Chicago not getting the Olympics in 2016. Burris stated in an interview, shortly after the announcement, that the image of the U. S. has been so tarnished in the last 8 years that, even Barack Obama making an unprecedented pitch for the games could not overcome the hatred the world has for us as a result of George Bush.

This stupid Negro probably does not realize that South America has NEVER held the Olympic games there. It is way past due at giving them a shot at it.

Hey, Rio budgeted over 14 billion for the games. I really
doubt Chicago was gonna come near that.

I love how the morons on DU are blaming everyone/thing but
the fact that's it's RIO!!! Did those delusional idiots in IL really
think they had a chance in hell???

Obama’s Olympic failure will only add to doubts about his presidency (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article6859031.ece)

Chicago’s dismal showing today, after Mr Obama’s personal, impassioned last-minute pitch, is a stunning humiliation for this President. It cannot be emphasised enough how this will feed the perception that on the world stage he looks good — but carries no heft.

This was an epic failure for the community organizers of Chicago, as well.

Who in their right minds would even consider Chicago for the Olympics.Even the ancient Roman gladiators would have problems with the street hoods roaming around that place.

A safer idea would be to hold them on the Afghanistan/Pakistan border and the world's athletes could dodge the Taliban AK -47 rounds !

It probably was part of the Annointed One's get rich after leaving office scheme. He and partners might have bought up some blighted property on the South Side and planned to sell it as an Olympic site. Too bad.

Last place---first elimination. Guess he didn't exactly charm them. You would have thought he'd have a clue that they didn't have a chance. His ego is his Achilles heel.

2016 Olympics: Did Derrion Albert Beating Footage Kill Chicago's Dream?

Chicago's 2016 Olympic dreams were dashed today. The city was eliminated Friday in the first round of voting by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Several hours later, the IOC pronounced Rio de Janeiro, Brazil the winner.

But Chicago's rapid elimination despite a personal push by the uber-charismatic President Obama, has left Crimesider wondering if IOC members had seen images of the brutal beating death of Chicago honor student Albert Derrion and if the carnality of the 16-year-old's slaying may have...

Put this as my Facebook status several hours ago:

THE best Drudge Report headline EVER:

The Ego Has Landed, World Rejects Obama: Chicago Eliminated in First Round

'Bout fell off my chair in laughter at that one! I'm sure Obama is just squealing in embarrassment!! Mwahaha!

A few of my fellow Obama-haters posted similar things and/or "liked" my status. So now I log in again...and a liberal's status:

I'm really proud of all of my fellow Americans who would rather see their president humiliated than have the Olympics come to our country. Keep it classy, guys.

Does anyone have a link to some video showing the facial reaction of the Chicago delegation when they were eliminated? I would love to see the shock and awe!

One more question: These are the Summer Olympics, Rio is in the southern hemisphere which means they will be held in the winter...how will that work? LOL:D

The Int. Olympic Comm. gives all games a specific time window...biased to the Northern Hemisphere (I think it was June-Sept). However, Rio's on the ocean and closer to the equator than south Florida. The weather should be beautiful even if it's winter...it should be 70s/low-80s during the day and cool in the evenings. Should be beautiful weather for the athletes...imagine the games in Chicago in 90+ degree temps.

I lived in the chicago area for a year (northern burbs). It was cool most of the time. But imagine trying to control the gangs and assorted hoodlums. The year I was there, people taking the train to the city all sat on one side. That was so the bricks being thrown from the projects couldn't get them as easily. I don't think it would be a lovely showcase for the US. Then there would be all the graft and Acorn types there.

Chicago itself is lovely with the museums, lakeshore, good shopping, greyt food, but the other elements would tarnish it.

What a representative of the Democrat party at its worst! I knew they'd find a way to blame Bush. How much longer tl Burris is out of office? If the Illinois voters re-elect him, they deserve what they get.

Winter in Rio means temps run on average from 60F to 80F. They're closer to the equator so they don't see the cold weather like we do here in the states.

"Obama has not had time to turn that around on the world stage"

And yet he gets a Nobel nomination for doing absolutely fuck all, just 11 days into his presidency. I bet Burris doesn't mind THAT so much.

Burris is a dick. I'd like to see how he could possibly square these two positions.
