James Shore, 40, of Milwaukee and Kirby Brown, 38, of Westtown, New York, died last week after being overcome in a sweat lodge during a spiritual cleansing ceremony.

Nineteen other people were taken to hospital suffering from burns, dehydration, breathing problems, kidney failure or elevated body temperature.

Steve Waugh, Yavapai County Sheriff in Arizona, said his detectives were focusing on self-help expert and author James Arthur Ray and his staff as they try to determine if there was any criminal negligence.

He said Ray had refused to speak with authorities and left the state. No charges have been filed. ...

Ray does seem to be acting a tad suspiciously in all this.

When I saw that they had spread plastic tarps over the "sweat lodge", I knew we weren't dealing with any mental giants.

It's Sedona. They aren't exactly known for their clear thinking up there. Kooks-ville.

Plastic. You're kidding me.

Jeez. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

We've been laughing about this since it happened.

That'll teach those moonbats not to come to Arizona to sweat.

I'll stick with the Jaccuzi at the community center. I've always thought that saunas were uncomfortable and somewhat dangerous. We had one in the basement of the dorm at WMU, and I rarely went into it.
