U.S. District Judge Sidney Stein ruled that if the case went to court, the filmmakers would probably win under the fair use doctrine.

"That doctrine provides that the fair use of a copyrighted work for the purposes of criticism and commentary is not an infringement of copyright," Stein wrote in his decision in Manhattan federal court.

===============================

Cue the "Expelled" haters to start forming conspiracy theories about the judge's last name.

You managed to say bitch but not ass?:p I can't stand Yoko. Anything that pisses her off makes me happy.

Yoko was a talentless nothing who glommed onto someone famous and rode his fame to her own 'fame."

But, apparently, John loved her. That makes her okay by me.

But I am glad she appears to be losing this one.

Dude, your Tao is out of whack today, she sucks, and sucks badly. McCartney and her would own the rights to their own music today if not for her.

On the up side for the Lennon family, it appears that Yoko and Julian have made peace and at least found common cause!

I haven't seen the movie, but it sounds to me like the song was used to make a point. Yoko, Sean and Julian might not like that point, but I think John, who loved this country and it's artistic freedom enough to fight very hard for his green card, would be cool with it.

It's not like Yoko and his sons don't have enough money.
