Music icons Michael Jackson and Kurt Cobain are among the late stars chosen to be contacted in the world's first Twitter seance, it was announced today.

The event, to mark Halloween, will attempt to contact the spirits of a number of prominent dead figures picked in a public poll.

Others to be contacted in the event, organised by costume company Angels Fancy Dress, will be River Phoenix and William Shakespeare.

A psychic will attempt to contact Michael Jackson and Kurt Cobain using Twitter

Twitter users are being asked to submit questions which will be asked if the London-based seance manages to contact the stars on Friday, October 30, the day before Halloween.

Psychic Jayne Wallace will try to contact the spirits, with any responses then relayed through the networking service and at www.fancydress.com/tweance.

Twitter users can follow the seance from 10am on Friday by following @tweance

Words fail - even with 130 characters left.

Why not Dante? He'd have something worth saying.

He might want to make clarifications. I'm sure Arnold went to that golden trough in the sky.

Ok, is it just me or does a Twitter seance seem totally bizarre? I mean, do you have to knock your own computer around? Open an email of a glowing hand? Is there an app for "totally unearthly voice"? And who does the channeling? Or is it just left to the ISP?

LOL!!!!!!! :D
