It's about minus 9 F which even scarier in Celsius (minus 22.7) but we may claw our way up 18 F today. The good news is that this system is finally moving out and the giant fireball that the Old Ones spoke of has reappeared.

For good or bad, Christmas is at least partially about giving and getting gifts. In thinking about actual material gifts that you know you will not get but would like, what comes to mind? Now, none of the Peace To The World stuff and forget behavioral-oriented "gifts" (my kid to get better grades, my wife to shut up for a minute). We're talking about actual objects that are potentially achievable for your income and lifestyle but which you know you aren't getting for one reason or another.

TOTD: Name a material gift that you would like but which you aren't going to get this time around.

I would like the new Vitamix with all the potential attachments. Have you ever seen a demonstration of that thing?

Really? I think it's fine if gifts have cords as long they also have the capacity to permanently maim the overly curious. :)

Gift with cords imply housework; they are things like appliances you would buy for yourself in any case.

I don't want a juicer. I don't even understand the point of juicers. I've replaced the seals on my old Vitamix twice.

If it has new seals you should be ready to go.
