I see no cause for doom and gloom except everybody's great desire to see an apocalypse.
We have gone past the threat of nuclear war and the way I see it, if we were going to destroy ourselves in such a way, then it would have happened with the Cuban Missile Crisis over 46 years ago.
As for Climatic Upsets, they have been occuring since the world's been turning.
