"Grayson is a ''Mockery''

The Orlando Sentinel has had it with Disney World-area Rep. Alan Grayson's Mickey Mouse antics.

The last straw for the paper's editheads was a four-page letter the Bronx-bred liberal sent to Attorney General Eric Holder asking him to investigate a website MyCongressmanIsNuts.com that makes fun of all the crazy stuff he says all the time.

In a Chavez-esque request, Grayson suggests the Florida Republican activist who runs the site, Angie Langley, be prosecuted for fraudulent fundraising, a charge that could put her behind bars for five years.Enough is enough, the Sentinel says. The title "End the Escapades ... Grayson Is Making a Mockery of His Office":

This, after all, is the congressman who called a former lobbyist now advising the Federal Reserve "a K Street whore." Who said that former Vice President Dick Cheney should "STFU" Who declared on the U.S. House floor that the Republican health plan was for Americans to "die quickly" if they get sick.

Mr. Grayson's overheated reaction to the Web site parody adds to his image as a polarizing, divisive figure in Congress, an institution that runs on coalitions. It detracts from his credibility as a serious representative of his Central Florida constituents.

With a year still to go in his first term, his act is wearing thin.Mr. Grayson is a successful businessman and lawyer and a self-made millionaire.

He has the talent to get big things done in Washington. He won't, however, if his big mouth and thin skin get in the way.

Clearly, Mr. Grayson is a committed and passionate advocate for his beliefs. He may be the bane of Republicans, but he's not afraid to take on his own party, either. Lately he has been denouncing President Barack Obama's plan to deploy 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan. Though we don't agree with him, we respect his insistence on speaking out.
