Desperate for Edge in Election Year, Dems Turn to Old Strategy

House Democrats began an ad campaign in December assailing Republicans for opposing legislation restructuring federal financial rules and recalling the final days of the Bush presidency, when the economy tanked

With the congressional GOP poised for a comeback in the 2010 midterm elections, Democrats are dusting off an old playbook, using George W. Bush as their boogeyman and castigating Republicans as cozy with Wall Street.

House Democrats began an ad campaign in December assailing Republicans for opposing legislation restructuring federal financial rules and recalling the final days of the Bush presidency, when the economy tanked.

"Remember? We all know we should never let this happen again," the ad says. It lays into Republicans for voting "to let Wall Street continue the same risky practices that crippled retirement accounts and left taxpayers on the hook for $700 billion."

Maryland Rep. Chris Van Hollen, who heads the House Democrats' campaign arm, said his party wants to remind voters who was on their side at a difficult time. "The Republican Party in Washington today is no different than the Republican Party that ran the Congress before," he said.

Anyone wanna take bets on if they'll do it in 2012 as well?

The GOP needs to admit this and remind voters that the DIMs controlled the legislature during the Bush years. The same legislature that now is lobbyist controlled- and fillabuster proof , you know, the people who actually spend our money?

Then they need to run the soundbites of O Blah Blah, Reid, and Pelousy where they admit we have a profligate spending problem, the debt is huge and bad, etc, etc,,. Once that is establiblished ask::confused:

"why on your own accusations of Bush and your own admission of the failures and bad spending policies, did your administration under full control of ALL branches of government, expand these bad policies and increase the debt 4 times that of the previous administration you continuously attack as the boogeyman?

The Democrats can play the blame game all they want. Not going to work. Repubs should have this message embellished in their foreheads "it's the economy stupid". Jobs, jobs, jobs, higher taxes, socialized meds, deficit spending, national defense, terrorism, etc is the message that Repubs need to pound the Dummocrats with.

You must have read my post incorrectly. I am against all of the spending, higher taxes, health care, etc that the Democrats are hell bent on initiating.
