One of the enduring mysteries of the 2008 campaign was what got Ted Kennedy so mad at Bill Clinton. The former president's entreaties, at some point, backfired, and the explanation has never quite emerged.

I've finally gotten my hands on a copy of Game Change, in which Heliemann and Halperin report:

[A]s Hillary bungled Caroline, Billís handling of Ted was even worse. The day after Iowa, he phoned Kennedy and pressed for an endorsement, making the case for his wife. But Bill then went on, belittling Obama in a manner that deeply offended Kennedy. Recounting the conversation later to a friend, Teddy fumed that Clinton had said, A few years ago, this guy would have been getting us coffee.

A poster at Ace of Spades disagrees.

28 Besides, after his performance as President, I'm fairly certain Bill Clinton wouldn't much care for Obama getting his coffee: Barack would make 10 times as much as was needed, 75% of it would go "missing"(and be found with all his pals) , the coffee bill would suddenly quadruple, Barack would insist that you drink it or go to jail, and it would taste like gopher dung. And then he would blame the guy who USED to get the coffee for all the problems.

That would be taking a job away from a legal citizen. We need to give a village in Kenya Their idiot back!

Making coffee requires work. It also requires attention to detail. O Blah Blah would take between 13 and 90 days to deliver the now tepid coffee.
