Top Obama czar: Infiltrate all 'conspiracy theorists'

"Rewrite the Constitution to include what he terms his "First Amendment New Deal"

Sunstein: Ban 'right wing' rumors

In a lengthy academic paper , President Obama's regulatory czar, Cass Sunstein, argued the U.S. government should ban "conspiracy theorizing." Among the beliefs Sunstein would ban is advocating that the theory of global warming is a deliberate fraud.

Sunstein also recommended the government send agents to infiltrate "extremists who supply conspiracy theories" to disrupt the efforts of the "extremists" to propagate their theories.

In a 2008 Harvard law paper, "Conspiracy Theories," Sunstein and co-author Adrian Vermeule, a Harvard law professor, ask, "What can government do about conspiracy theories?" "We can readily imagine a series of possible responses. Sunstein said government agents "might enter chat rooms, online social networks, or even real-space groups and attempt to undermine percolating conspiracy theories by raising doubts about their factual premises, causal logic or implications for political action."

Sunstein defined a conspiracy theory as "an effort to explain some event or practice by reference to the machinations of powerful people, who have also managed to conceal their role."

Some "conspiracy theories" recommended for ban by Sunstein include:

* "The theory of global warming is a deliberate fraud."

* "The view that the Central Intelligence Agency was responsible for the assassination of President John F. Kennedy."

* "The 1996 crash of TWA flight 800 was caused by a U.S. military missile."

* "The Trilateral Commission is responsible for important movements of the international economy."

* "That Martin Luther King Jr. was killed by federal agents."

* "The moon landing was staged and never actually occurred."

Sunstein allowed that "some conspiracy theories, under our definition, have turned out to be true."

"The theory of global warming is a deliberate fraud."
This one is in the wrong category. May I suggest Junk Science or fabricated mass hysteria instead?

* "The view that the Central Intelligence Agency was responsible for the assassination of President John F. Kennedy."Just explain all the evidence tampering and we'll let this one go back to the dust bin of history.

* "The 1996 crash of TWA flight 800 was caused by a U.S. military missile."
I heard this once. Who continues this one?

* "The Trilateral Commission is responsible for important movements of the international economy."Never heard this one.

* "That Martin Luther King Jr. was killed by federal agents."
Never hard this one either.

* "The moon landing was staged and never actually occurred."This one is actually funny. Somebody needs to tell the Russians, they believe it.

Cass, you ignorant fool. If you succeed in trampling the 1st Amendment, you will piss off 90% of your support. Most of these idiots come from your camp.

Moo is a lost cause he doesn't read what he posts- he just copies and pasts from FR. I'm hoping that other people will use their brains though and reject WND as a news source.

World Nut Daily tends to be a complete embarrassment to our cause at least 90% of the time.

How about this site? http://www.allacademic.com//meta/p_mla_apa_research_citation/1/0/6/9/3/pages106938/p106938-1.php

I only read a few pages of his thesis, but it appeared to me it could be construed as what WND reported. And I think this site is fairly credible.

The main stream media lies deliberately and also omits stories on a regular basis but yet many posters here quote them like gospel. WND does not have the budget of AP or Reuters so I don't hold it against them if they are wrong often. I read ALL news with a grain of salt because the only thing that proves them out is time. Post from whatever sources you want, I have a brain that can sort things out.
