More malfeasance on the AWG front. (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/environment/article6994774.ece)

Professor Hasnain confirmed that he had given an interview to Fred Pearce, of New Scientist, when he was still working for Jawaharlal Nehru University in 1999. “I said that small glaciers in the eastern and central Himalaya are declining at an alarming rate and in the next 40-50 years they may lose substantial mass,” he said. “That means they will shrink in area and mass. To which the journalist has assigned a date and reported it in his own way.” Mr Pearce was not immediately available for comment.
Despite the controversy, the IPCC said that it stood by its overall conclusions about glacier loss this century in big mountain ranges including the Himalayas. “This conclusion is robust, appropriate, and entirely consistent with the underlying science and the broader IPCC assessment,” it said.
The scandal threatens to undermine the panel’s credibility as it begins the marathon process of drafting its Fifth Assessment Reports, which are due out in 2013-14. Georg Kaser, a leading Austrian glaciologist who contributed to the 2007 report, described the glacier mistake as huge and said that he had warned colleagues about it months before publication.
The error is also now being exploited by climate sceptics, many of whom are convinced that stolen e-mail exchanges last year revealed a conspiracy to exaggerate the evidence supporting global warming.
Jairam Ramesh, the Indian Environment Minister, said on Tuesday the scandal vindicated his position that there was no proof that Himalayan glaciers were melting abnormally fast. “The IPCC claim that glaciers will vanish by 2035 was not based on an iota of scientific evidence,” he said.

I've been embarrassed for a long time... but not for myself.

How many "smoking gun" or "final nail in the coffin" story debunkings does it take before a realization permeates those thick layers of skull - that you can't believe the shit you read in the news, especially when it comes to science, and especially when it comes to politicized science issues? I've really lost track of how many of them I've smacked down here.

Yet, here we are... the same ol crew, shouting the same ol cheers after yet another news article that they probably didnt even understand, but believed without a second thought.... do your own homework this time - it will be a good exercise.

It was the AGW's who politicized it... when their shoddy scientific efforts were being exposed they are the ones who tried to cover it up with lies and deception and attempts to silence the messengers. It is through your skull that thought can not creep.

And just how did you discover these "lies"? By reading shitty news articles that are entirely or mostly false. Seriously, do your homework on this one too.... I'm a little tired of doing it for you.

You don't do any homework, least of all mine. You just defend the liars and scientific con artists who's view you supported and now feel you have to defend in order to avoid looking like a fool. It isn't working because every defense you put forth in spite of the evidence to the contrary makes you look even more deluded fool than you started out as. Every one here sees it but you and you consider (as most fools do) everyone else to be wrong.

If you call what you're doing homework then I would hate to see how low your grades are.

Really? Some of the arrogance has rubbed off on you, by the look of it.

The wheels are coming off in the UK, in a big way. The Met Office is nearly completely discredited. People are starting to wonder if the fact that they have got nine year's summer and winter forecasts completely and disastrously wrong in a row has anything to do with the fact that they have been co-opted into shilling the UK government line on AGW. At 200m/year to British taxpayers, I figure we have the right to be asking that question.

All I want is an accurate forecast, or at least one that won't lead to my friends getting caught in an 8 hour 15 mile journey. There is no excuse for this. It's so bad that the BBC (!) have put the weather forecasting contract out to tender.

There is far too much vested interest in maintaining the AGW effort, and at last this is becoming obvious. You can hardly blame us for questioning this.

The Himalayas story is bunk? Nope, they admitted it.

Face it wilbur...they lied and you fell for it. Hook, line and sinker.

He should do his part to combat AGW and releasing CO2 by holding his breath.
