Last night we had snow that turned into freezing rain and sleet. The power blipped a few times but didn't go out.

The system that brought the weather is now wrapping back around us and bringing more precipitation. Right now it consists of a fine mist falling that freezes on contact. It is adding to the load of the already iced-over trees. A tree fell at my Mom's house but it doesn't look like it did much damage to the roof or the end it fell on.

I got one out of the driveway that wasn't too large. Everything is covered with a layer of ice and is hard to handle.

The temp tonight is supposed to be 18 degrees. Hopefully the precip we get this evening will turn into snow or sleet and not freezing rain.

A very large pine tree is leaning precariously over the power line up The Mountain. If it gets much more of an ice load we will lose power.

I'm watching the Weather Channel and they just reported about how bad the ice storm in Oklahoma is. One guy called it the "worst he had ever seen."

Dang.

Ice storms are no joke. We seldom have them out here since we're either too cold or too dry. You have a genny, don't you? Stay safe. :(

Yes we have a genny and we usually use if for the well. When our power goes out the water goes out because we have well water.

We can cook with gas and have emergency heat. Of course, if trees come down you never know what they will fall on.

Hang in there Bubba, it can't have too much left after what it dumped on us!

Sounds like Bubba lost his power. Hope he and his stay safe and warm tonight.

We finally ended up getting some snow last night, less than an inch. All the
heavy stuff stayed well south.

Sounds like Linda#'s is gonna get another foot of snow and more on the
way next week.

Is Al Gore speaking in Washington again? ;)

When Al Gore kicks the bucket, we should freeze him and slap him on the side of one of the glaciers at the north pole.

Now see - I wanna see him suck inside rocket and shot into the sun so that he can know what real warming feels like.

Thanks guys. We had a quiet evening. And a dark one.

I have flashlights and electric lanterns for short outages and large candles and oil lanterns for longer ones.

The power came on earlier this morning. Beforehand I checked around the houses and looked at the driveway and found no further damage. Yaay.

Anybody else have weather related issues?
