Palin Hand Crib Notes Attract Scrutiny

Posted by David S Morgan

Former Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin's appearance before the National Tea Party Convention in Nashville Saturday night gave plenty of red meat to the attendees, such as calling President Obama "a charismatic guy with a Teleprompter."

The thousand-plus Tea Party attendees who paid $300 to hear her speak (Palin was paid $100,000 for her appearance) probably did not glimpse Palin's own handy Teleprompter — crib notes written on her left hand.

She could be seen glancing at them during her Q&A with Tea Party Nation founder Judson Phillips when asked what were the top three things a Conservative majority in Congress should do.

A AP photographer's picture revealed the words "Energy," "Budget cuts" (crossed out), "Tax," and "Lift Americans Spirits" scribbled in ink on the inside of her left hand.

CBS News political analyst John Dickerson said the revelation may give some ammunition for her critics, but also that it matters less than what she says (or doesn't say) right now.

(YouTube)"We all face a little difficulty getting our words together in public moments," he said on CBS' "The Early Show." "I think it will be the kind of thing the Democrats will use to pick at her, the notion that basically she doesn't have the capabilities to be president. And this is a way to bedevil her. I don't think in the long term this will cause her too much trouble."

Oh, the horror of hand notes! Palin's response to her hand note critics today:

I would love to see Barky take the stage with no teleprompter and only notes written on his hand. Let's see how coherent a speech he can give then.

Notes vs teleprompter-it's just a matter of what she's used to and most comfortable with. There are very few people who can give a good speech without one or the other.

Although, if conservatives are going to make fun of Obama for over-relying on his teleprompter, Sarah Palin's use of notes is fair game for liberals.

If she is planning to run for President in 2012, she shouldn't be working as a commentator for FOX news (or any media outlet), or, at least, she should resign upon announcing her candidacy. It's one of those appearance of impropriety things, and it would look to a lot of people as if FOX was paying her for her to basically use their network to campaign.

I was under the impression that Obama and liberals were so smart. If that is the case, why does Obummer need a teleprompter. The stupid SOB does not know how old his daughter is or how many states in the Union. BTW, it's not 57. He even has an Ebonics pronunciation problem.

Since she is a private citizen, she can work for whomever she wants and it's none of your business. Kinda refreshing to have a politicians that has worked in the private and the public sector. Something your boy has never done. Career politicians (Repubs & Democrats) are some of the most ignorant people I know.

Your problem with her working at Fox is quite rich. You have 3 major nets shilling for Obama and you are scared of Palin having a platform for her conservative views. Many things can happen in the next 2 years so it's not a certainty that she is going to run. If and when she decides to run, she will leave Fox so that cry babies like you will not get your fucking diapers in a wad. You liberals are really fucked up.

Topics, as Palin wrote on her palm, are reminders of items to cover.

Notes, as any speaker would place on a podium, are statements condensed from a speech.

Teleprompters contain speeches word-for-word to be read.

I've used notes on my palm when I've given presentations at seminars when absent a podium. Nothing wrong with that. Nothing wrong with notes on paper or 3x5 cards either - if you have a podium to place them on. And there's not even anything wrong with teleprompters for important speeches like the SOTU.

But if you constantly require them for public speaking in all venues, then the speaker has a problem. Especially if the speaker's teleprompted and unscripted speaking styles don't mesh.

Writing a couple of words on your palm to jog your memory is somewhat different from having an annotated full text copy of your speech running at your talking speed on both the right and left of your field of vision.

Somewhat different.

I am not scared of Palin at all. If she is best the GOP has to offer, I'm pretty sure we're looking at an easy re-election of President Obama in 2012. She has no appeal outside of extreme conservative voters. I'd rather have Obama run against her than someone who might be able to win.

My problem with her working for FOX is separate from your issues with the other networks, and how they allegedly shill for Obama. This is about how she appears. But you obviously didn't read my previous post, or you would have seen that I stated that at least she needs to resign from FOX when she announces her candidacy.

The again, you've never been one to let your good judgment and reading skills get in the way of making crude, foul and ignorant insults.

I am glad you are not scared of Palin. You along with a shit pot of liberals go into cardiac arrest every time she speaks. Kinda funny. Your lying about her appeal to just extreme conservatives tell me otherwise. Independents make up a large portion of the the Tea Party movement. Your judgement in that area tells me you are tone deaf.

Has she stated that she is going to run???????????????? It's a good year or year and a half before the campaigning will start for the Repub nomination. However the Magic Negro has been in campaign mode from day 1. The dumb shit does not know how to govern. He is going to be a 1 term President because he is an utter failure. He was hired to fix the economy and the job market. If Palin runs, she will slaughter him.

I don't think I'm the one at risk of cardiac arrest here. I also have enough literacy skills to know the proper usages of the words "your" and "you're".

But as I said, keep on pushing Palin for the GOP candidate in 2012. It's a good way to ensure a democratic victory.

It won't be a good way to ensure it, but it will make it a much tougher battle for the GOP.

We all know that liberals like"you" have a few screws missing. You're the one that is going to watch the Democraps get slaughtered in 010; for an encore the Magic Negro is going to get trounced in 012. Seven, 7 words for a 40 minute speech versus O Blah Blah's incessant, Chatty Kathy like speeches. If she can give a well organized speech with 7 words written on her hand, that is far better than the teleprompter in Chief who cannot have a breakfast conversation without a speech writer and two teleprompters. Who needs scorn and ridicule? Given the above, I believe that is obvious.

The TEA Party gets about a 35%-45% approval rating in most polls I've seen. It's still a relatively new movement and a lot of people are undecided about it. My hope is that the TEA Party movement coalesces around a focused limited government, low tax, Pro-Constitution. It seems to be headed in that direction. Hopefully, that's where it ends up. If it does, I think it will grow and become even more popular.

Yet a Washington Post poll done two days ago finds that 45% of American agree with the Tea Party stance (with those against in the 30's) while showing that 55% of Americans have an unfavorable view of her. EVERY poll I've seen done by many differant agencies has her approval rating in the 30's.

The truth is that I do not believe liberal polls. I agree she is a polarizing figure because of the constant bombardment of the liberal press. However, I believe her approval numbers will increase in the next year and a half. Watch how she helps Gov Perry win the TX race beating the pants off of Hutchinson.

BTW, the poll that Swampfox posted had a separate poll that stated that 42% wanted her to run. Check it out. I have posted her qualifications several times. It seems like naysayers like you can not dispute her qualifications. Can you name 1 Republican politician that is more knowledgeable about energy than she is. Repubs that have ran a small business are few and far between also. Her qualifications are certainly better than Obama or most of the critters in Congress in my opinion. FYI, whomever is the Repub nominee in 012 will be attacked by the liberal press attempting to make them out as a polarizing figure. You can book on that.

Dianne Feinstein Caught on Tape Looking at Notes Scrawled in Palm of Hand During Televised Debate

Dianne Feinstein was caught on tape looking at notes scrawled in the palm of her hand during a televised debate. Both news and footage of this mortifying history of hers have only recently been dug up in response to the liberal media's extreme overreaction to Palin doing the same thing at the recent Tea Party convention.

Seems like Sarah Palin wasn't the only one to use the old tactic of looking at notes scrawled in the palm of her hand as a memory aid. In fact, you can even credibly say that she was only mimicking the antics of that California, senior senator, Dianne Feinstein, who had Palin beat by a good 20 or so years and seemed to set the "standard" for such activity!

Of course, you won't hear the liberal, mainstream media give anything coming close to equal time with this embarrassment of Feinstein's since they are good, little lapdogs of the Democrats.

You made my point; look at the perception that Obama had a year ago and look at it today. Issues that she has extensive knowledge includes running a small business and her superior knowledge of energy will be what the doctor ordered in 012. This country is swimming in oil and natural gas. This is the ticket to turning the economy and creating jobs on it's head. Problem is that we have too many stupid shits that do not have a clue or have a not in my backyard mentality or environmental nuts or just anti-American pricks.
Weaning ourselves off of foreign importing oil is a not only a national security issue but an economic issue. Who better can promote that ideology than Gov Sarah Palin. I am still waiting for someone to tell me what candidate has an inkling of the experience that she has in those two fields. Got news for you; green energy is not going to cut the mustard. Ethanol, wind, solar are very expensive and if the government did not prop them up they would fail. Conclusion, Gov Palin would slaughter Obama in a debate about energy and small business creation.

I like Palin, I really do, however she will not be the next President. Not unless she comes out with much more than energy plans. She needs to show her ability on world topics, national security and foreign relations....

If and when that occurs, then she might have a shot. Right now, no dice.

Look how far she has come from being a nobody AK Gov to the leader of the Tea Party movement in a year and a half. Her book has blown all the DC pundits away. She has time to brush up on the things you mentioned. However, she can tie national security in with energy policy quite nicely. The first Gulf war was about oil and I would say the 2nd one had the same implications. Right now, she does not have to decide. It is well over a year before the primary campaigning starts up.

Millions of her fans will insist on her running in my opinion. Plus, you can not buy the enthusiasm that she brings to the table. If she is the nominee, who are Repubs and Independent going to vote for? Someone that is a failure at his job of correcting the economy and creating jobs or someone that has ideas that will work. I think the choice is very easy.

Her biggest hurdle will be overcoming her decision to step down as governor of Alaska. If she thinks the heat on her family was bad while running for vice president, it's going to be worse by tenfold if she were to run for president.

I don't think it can get any worse. She is a threat to liberals and RINO's. At some point, all the nitpicking will backfire on them in my opinion. Her stepping down as Gov. was a result of the frivolous lawsuits that left her hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt. She has not fully explained that burden that had on her and her family.
