Melanie Typaldos has a few hundred pounds of rodent at her home in Buda, Texas, but she wont need any rat poison. The rodent she has is actually the family pet. Hes named Caplin Rous, and hes a 2-foot-tall, 200-pound rodent from South America called a capybara, and he might be the most popular capybara on the Internet thanks to his blog and Facebook account. He originally came to the Typaldos household about 2.5 years ago, and hes been the pet of the Typaldos family since he was 11 days old. ...http://www.popfi.com/2010/02/09/the-rous-named-caplin/

I think that they are also called Nutra (or something like that) and the run loose in Southern Louisianna. They are considered vermin.

I bet patriot45 could make something tasty out of that. It would need a big crowd over to eat it all though. :D

I wonder if my 5 lb cat would still try to kill it?

My dog would be rightly terrified of such a creature. She's smarter than my cat.
