This makes all you Star Wars and Star Trek geeks look like the lightweight, limp-wristed pansies we know you all are.....

This movie will kick ass.

Ive been collecting, painting and playing these miniatures for close to 15 years now. The absolute blood and carnage in the storyline is enough to get the adrenaline going! :D

I am EXTREMELY leery about this. EXTREEEEMELY.

I've been playing for nearly 15 years as well.

To be honest, I am too but take a look at the actors chosen already for the voice overs.....it will make you feel more comfortable.

Also, by all appearances, they will be doing the Battle for Macragge which means Ultramarines verses Tyranids.

Voice actors don't really mean much to me. You could have the biggest names in the world, but if the story sucks and they go 2nd rate on the CGI, it's gonna be a huge waste of money. And GW has never impressed me as a business savy company.

Battle for Macragge would be awesome though. Especially if they work the Titan Legion in there. I'd totally go full fan boy geek mode on watching a Warlord kicking some ass on the big screen.

Imagine the space shot of a Tyranid Hive floating thru space ejecting spores down on Macragge and having the genestealer hordes rip thru MkIV armor plating.... It would make "Aliens" look like a piker..

See... this is were I'm seeing the problem. They've got so much to cover. The initial invasion, the space battles, the fighting on the planet, then the 1st Company's last stand at the poles. I'm wondering if they'll be able to do justice to it all.

They may not have to do it all......if it is a successful first movie, they could easily justify the final battle in another movie shortly there after........

Personally, I would have rather seen the epic battle between Horus and The Emperor for Terra..... :p

I would have started smaller. Maybe plan on doing the Ultramarine Novels to start out. They had decent plot, plenty of action, and would have been a great way to get a feel for the environment.

Instead, it seems there going in with everything they've got and it's gonna be make or break.

Im not so sure...... If you do the Battle for Macragge first, that pretty much gives you a feel for what Warhammer is all about. You have Titans, Valhallans and Ultramarines fighting the greatest threat to humanity, the Tyranids.

If you wanted to do a novel, I think Dark Angels would have been a better start.

I don't think the Valhallans were at Macragge. Just the PDF and whatever local IG forces they could have brought in. They didn't exactly have a lot of time to drag stuff from across the galaxy.

You are right....Regular PDF of Macragge...... Though in the illustrations Ive seen before, they look a lot like Valhallans.

Heh heh, so if it is the Nid assault on Macragge, is John Hurt's character going to die due to a Ripper bursting out of his chest?

As for me, I've been playing 40k since the original Rogue Trader first came out but only have 3 armies right now. Necrons are my primary right now but I don't play them because the 5th edition rule set have turned them to poo....praying to the God Emperor that their Codex will be the next one to come out after the Blood Angels arrives in April. I also have a Chaos Daemon army on hold waiting for plastic Greater Daemons and Daemon Princes to come out. What I'm working on now is a 1850 point Space Wolf force led by Ragnar Blackmane...just need 2 Rhinos and I'll be able to play with an unpainted force for practice, painting as I go.
