The leader of a key bloc of House Democrats opposed to abortion said Sunday that he is close to an agreement that would allow him to vote for the health care bill.

Apparently, it's an executive order, which is retarded as Obama could just reverse that at whim. Regardless, if Stupak caves it's game over. The current whip count (www.thehill.com) is 39 against, 12 undecided. 38 Democrats must vote "no" to kill the bill. If Stupak or any significant number of his coalition cracks, this will pass.

He's a democrat and he will choose Obama over God. Rush has been calling this one for a while.

As has been pointed out, executive orders cannot supercede law.

What will be interesting is the potential backlash from pro abortion dems if Stupak gets some strong guarantee that federal funds will not be used for abortions. To cross the line and vote will require something that he can use to appease his pro life constituency.

Democrats have reached a deal on an executive order on abortion that could hand them a victory on healthcare.

"Eight or nine" Democrats, including Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.), will announce the deal at a 4 p.m. press conference, according to an anti-abortion Democrat.

"We've changed [our votes]," said Rep. Steve Driehaus (D-Ohio).

Driehaus said he's seen the executive order and can now vote for the healthcare bill. He said Stupak has signed off, as well.

Driehaus made his remarks just a few moments ago in the Speaker's Lobby. He said the group of "eight or nine" Democrats -- including Stupak -- who had been withholding their votes plans to announce the deal at 4 p.m. in the House Radio/TV gallery.

Right. It's all smoke and mirrors. The bottom line is he caved and in my opinion, he is not pro life. This bill clearly supports federally funded abortions. This admin makes me want to puke.:mad:

A conservative Democrat is a conservative of convenience.

Yes and they can't direct the private sector either. However, by the time Obama is finished there won't be much of a private sector left anyway.

...and if that's not enough...

The end result will be the Senate bill as signed, probably no House reconciliation, and hussein may or may not issue an executive order. Even if an executive order is signed, this administration is very schooled in laundering our tax dollars. Besides, an EO isn't worth the paper it's on as Nubs and Swampfox have pointed out.

Rep. Bart Stupi...er...Stupak is simply batshit dumb and gullible...

Does anybody here really honestly think the American people will still care in November? When you think about how the board idiots act, a lot of the American public are just like them. We could very well be socialist whether we like it or not.

Oh, those that care now will care even more then, Rock, I can assure you. Those that don't care now won't until the are taxed and rationed to death.

Stupak is a fool. Unless his constituency is made up of window-lickers, then they will know that even if Obama doesn't reverse his executive order, sooner or later some POTUS will as we slouch into the European model. I think Stupak knows this and doesn't care, because his position is simply one of political convenience and not one of personal conviction. I think that the voters will show the same allegiance to the sanctity of the life of Stupak's career at the polls, unless they are fools as well.
