Blacks criticize fried chicken comment

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Legislative Black Caucus is criticizing Sen. Randy Brogdon for a remark he made about fried chicken during a debate on federal health care legislation supported by President Barack Obama.

Caucus chairman Rep. Jabar Shumate of Tulsa Wednesday called on Senate President Pro Tem Glenn Coffee to admonish Brogdon. Shumate says Brogdon's comment is part of a pattern of disrespectful and inflammatory actions and statements.

Brogdon, a Republican gubernatorial candidate, made the comment Tuesday during debate on whether the state should try to opt out of parts of the health care bill.

He said Congress has no more authority to tell Oklahomans where to buy health insurance than it does to tell them where to buy a fried chicken dinner.

Brogdon says he was not referring to Obama.

Why do we even have a Black Caucus?

So, making fried chicken comments is now racist? Only blacks eat fried chicken? Can these people get more thin skinned?

But for crying out loud. These people need to stop being so idiotic about nothing. The statement made was 100% true. It isn't like he said that he couldn't sell watermelons on the side of the road. Funny how the CBC didn't have anything to say about that.

"Fried chicken dinner" is a well known and well understood way of making a comparison to something that is utterly common. Why is it common? Because every almost every single American has been eating fried chicken dinners since he or she was 3 years old. It's a common experience. Unlike buying arugula at Whole Foods.

These Black Caucus members have just demonstrated that they have the analytical skills of 6th graders and that they are completely out of touch with the other 288 million Americans in this country.

Do we have an all white caucus too? Or all asian? Or all mexican?

This is a legitimate question that I want to know the answer to.

There are a million congressional caucus bodies including some for women, Hispanics, French people, and Mongolians.

But no White Caucus nor anything similar in nature or intent. ;)

It would be labeled as racists before the first meeting was held or a statement of principles was issued.

Does this mean I can never order fried chicken again?

I just had to listen to Chris Wallace quibble that O Blah Blah was not taunting with his Iowa comments. Puhleeze! The Liar in Chief was taunting and everybody knows it. I'm sick of this crap. The blatant double standard is disgusting.

Here's the truth; O Blah Blah is too light skinned, clean and articulate, plus he has no discernable Black dialect unless he wants one, to be able to enjoys hisself sum fried chickens.
