Now the fugitive monkey is just taunting us. He's tweeting on the lam.
The wily rhesus macaque monkey, who has eluded trappers for more than a year as it traipsed across the Tampa Bay area, already has more than 50,000 Facebook friends. Now he is on Twitter daring animal control to find him and begging Gov. Charlie Crist to pardon him.
A Twitter account for Tampa Mystery Monkey called @MonkeyOnLoose is chittering over the Internet and getting a growing list of followers. (There is a rival @MysteryMonkeyTB, but the sense of humor there isn't nearly as cheeky.)
