Hearings Scheduled for Christian Militia Suspects
FBI raids suspected Christian militia to prevent violent revolt;
bond hearings Tuesday

DETROIT

Worried that a plot to kill police officers and kick-start a violent revolution against the government could be just weeks away, federal authorities moved to arrest members of a Michigan militia who called themselves "Christian warriors" as they prepared to battle the Antichrist.

"The time had come that we needed to arrest them and take them down," U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade said in an interview with The Associated Press.

Prosecutors have said that members of the Hutaree militia, who had trained themselves to make bombs and use firearms, planned to make a false 911 call, kill responding police officers, then set off a bomb at the funeral to kill many more. Federal officials said they began monitoring the militia last summer and that they believed an attack was planned for April.

Alleged ringleader David Brian Stone is among nine Hutaree members arrested in FBI raids across the Midwest at the weekend. Each of the suspects is being held without bond and they have all requested a public defender. Bond hearings are scheduled Wednesday for 44-year-old Stone of Clayton, Michigan, and other Hutaree members.

LIZ CHENEY's “Al Qaeda Seven”
Lawyers and Subversion at GITMO
These attorneys have volunteered to defend GITMO scum. Fox News identified them; Eric Holder intially verified the first two, and finally acknowleged the other seven.
Leftards had aneurisms over the disclosure and Liz Cheney’s ad demanding that the Justice Department divulge the names.

http://www.theatlanticwire.com/features/view/feature/Li...There is a HUGE difference between being a US citizen and being arrested in the United States, and NOT being a citizen and being detained on the battlefield, and then coming to the US and being provided a public defender. Libs just don't get that citizenship thing. (Or more likely it's that...the enemy of my enemy is my friend....and if they are against the US so much the better.)

6. It just shows more blatant hypocrisy..

From the article:

"What we were focused on here is their conduct, not on their religion. And what they have talked about is being very anti-government," McQuade said Tuesday. "They fear this `new world order' and they thought that it was their job to fight against government — the federal government in particular."

..and now they want the government they fought against to provide legal representation.

22. Of course, and therein lies the hypocrisy -

they would do away with that which they now avail themselves.

That's like the teabaggers protesting socialized health care while on Medicare, and Nazis sanctimoniously claiming their right to free speech which - should they ever come to power - they would themselves eliminate.Straw man.....comparing apples to oranges. No one has said anything about doing away with court appointed and paid for attorneys, so they are availing themselves of nothing that they want to "do away with". Likewise, just because someone doesn't like a huge new entitlement program does not mean that they have to...in order to not be a hypocrite....refuse social security.

4. They need to means test the little bastards

Anyone who can afford an attorney should be told to go hire one.

In the meantime, I hope their noses keep getting rubbed in the fact that socialism is their only hope of beating the rap.So our legal system is .... socialism? That's one I've never heard before. Of course it serves the liberals purposes to say it is that so they make it up.

18. Lawyers? Trials? Hey, Waitaminnit, I Thought They Were To Go Right To Military Tribunals

What's all this about letting terrorists get lawyers? The only time does not consider someone not to be a "terrorist" is if that person is a Muslim or a lefty.

They are going after them because they are a supposedly "Christian" group. (They're not and I don't agree with whatever plans they had.) I they were Muslim they would have received a free pass.

If they were socialists/anarchists/commies/Muslims then the DUmmies would be cheering them on and rooting for their acquittal. Well, as long as they didn't plot to kill The Chosen One.

There are some pretty good public defenders around metro Detroit, they may end up doing better with a court-appointed attorney than with someone they pick. I don't think a media hog, glory-seeking lawyer is what they need, they need quiet professionals who are unemotional to go over the government's case and pick holes in it.

I guess we'll see how good the feds case is.

Most indicted members of militia group are voters
By TOM TROY
BLADE POLITICS WRITER

Most of the indicted militia members accused of being anti-government extremists have active voting records, a check with area voter registration offices showed yesterday.

One is a registered Democrat, and the party affiliations of the rest could not be determined.

Jacob J. Ward, 33, of Huron, Ohio, voted as a Democrat in the 2004 and 2008 primary elections. He also voted in 10 other elections since 2000. Party affiliation in Ohio is determined by which party's ballot they requested in the most recent primary election. ... Oh Dear (http://toledoblade.com/article/20100401/NEWS16/4010369) :D
