Not well. After just going through the kitchen remodel, had to list the house for $14k under what I paid for it. That doesn't count the almost $20k worth of improvements I've put in the last 4 years.:(

What do you mean "had to list"?

"Had to list" as in SR took a job in Florida. "Had to" list for the low price as the market here has also slipped, but not as much as California, Florida or Arizona.

Intellectually I understand that we'll get a better deal, or supposedly will, in Florida. Emotionally I hate to take the loss. I worked a long time for this house.

We'll probably be able to get a larger home there for the same money, but we have a full basement that's partially finished and a ton of storage. We have a very large back yard, all fenced. The places I see in Florida mostly have small, dinky lots.

I should move this to the whiny zone.

That sucks. Could you not ask more with the idea that you would negotiate down to a level to move the property?

We went over the comparables with him very carefully. Problem is there have been no houses in this subdivision sold within the last 3 months---even taking it out to a year. I'm sure it will help having the granite to sell the house more quickly, who wouldn't take "free granite" and a "free architectural roof" or "free carpeting" or "free Pergo" or "free Bosch dishwasher". The list goes on and on and on.

The last house sold is a larger 2 story that was picked up for a song by a rehabber, who then listed it high and ended up lowering the price $70k. He made it bad for everyone.
