I'm a Libertarian; and I think that any argument that suggests that I am not pretty fucking great will be found lacking in substance and should be dismissed out of hand. Amirite?

In other words you have no clue what a Libertarian is. Color me shocked.

Libertarian economically, for the smallest level of government involvement in financial affairs short of anarchy including regulations etc. Usually very constitutionalist.

Same goes for social issues. They tend to have no problem with things such as gay marriage, drug legalization or decriminalization, prostitution, etc but unlike Liberals feel it should be left up for the states to decide by popular vote rather than by 'activist' judges.

Of course, I mean it couldn't be that I go on other conservative boards besides this one, listen to Glenn Beck and others like Ron Paul and Gary Johnson right?

you do like you do here. You read words and hear them speaking but you don't really listen and take anything to heart, you are much to smart for that. why do you waste your time?

A: What Republican voters think they are.

Libertarian philosophy is what modern American conservatism is rooted in. Libertarians believe that there is something bigger than any government and any state: the individual trumps all. 99 people should not be able to use government to impose themselves on 1 person.

The Libertarian recognizes that government and freedom are anathema to each other - government cannot give you freedom, it can only take it from you. As long as you're not depriving anyone else of their life, freedom or property, the Libertarian really doesn't care what you do - just be willing to accept the outcome.

Before I get on a too-long rant, let me just give you this tidbit:

Things Libertarians say:

"I don't need the government to _________ for me or tell me what's right or wrong."

"I didn't create this problem; would you please lower my taxes?"

"The difference between the two major political parties seems to blur with every passing year."

"Isn't the government big enough to suit you yet?"

Things Libertarians don't ever say:

"Well, if it saves even one life, isn't letting the government __________ worth it?"

"I held my nose and voted for __________."

"Well, if you don't have anything to hide, you shouldn't have any problem with __________."

"The (insert the name of any group of 51% of people who won a vote on a particular issue and plan to use the outcome of that vote to impose themselves on the losing 49% here) have spoken."

Libertarians? Aren't they the ones who "refused to hold their noses" thus allowing a sweep by the DIMWIToRATS?
Libertarians? They have good ideas but much like Communism, briefs well in theory yet the practice is a total failure.

Having said that, I'd opt for Libertarians over this present crop of Marxists who have invaded our Capitalist society.

More likely the same percentage voted for McCain as the Republicans.

The disagreements I get into with my fellow Libertarians is that I believe it's prudent to start small with municipal and possibly state if it's a winnable race. Trying to win national races isn't all that realistic and as Rock said, tends to get Democrats elected.

I'm Republican, but like quite a few of the libertarian ideas, especially smaller, less intrusive government, lower taxes and personal freedom. Some of their ideas turn me completely off. Taken as a whole, I much prefer them over what Step 'n Fetchit and his progressive, socialist followers are doing to our nation.

It'll take decades to repair the damage the obamessiah has done.

I've said it and said it: Before we get rid of this bastard, we'll be looking with fond memories at the Carter Administration.

Yes, thank goodness.

If McCain had won the election, cap and trade would pass, some less expensive form of "healthcare reform" would pass, some form of amnesty would pass, the government would continue growing, albeit more slowly, the debt would continue growing, albeit more slowly, and Rush, Hannity and everyone that listen to them would ignore all of it and extol McCain for renewing the Bush tax cuts and "keeping us safe from the terrorists". The "Tea Party" would never have formed and Republicans would stand 0 chance of picking up any seats in Congress this November. We might have gotten a decent Supreme Court justice, but that's about it.

I think it may yet work out for the better that Obama was elected. Most people who call themselves conservatives don't really care if the country gets wrecked as long as it's a Republican doing it. Since it's a Democrat in this case, people are starting to cry foul.
