GEICO voice actor fired after insulting tea parties

Sometimes you have a headline that makes the rest of the story superfluous, but here's the background. Actor Lance Baxter, otherwise known as "D.C. Douglas," currently known as the man who informs you how much GEICO can save you on car insurance, left a message last month with FreedomWorks in which he asked the group how many "mentally retarded" people it had on staff and what it would do when a tea partyer "killed someone." On April 14, FreedomWorks put his voicemail online.

Today, Douglas reports he's been dropped from GEICO's campaign. His dramatic news release is here; he claims to have been motivated by "the recent gay and racial slurs slung by Tea Party members at Congressman Barney Frank and Representative John Lewis during the Health Care Reform Weekend," and says he's "open to any attorneys taking on this case pro bono."

I hunted down the links and listened to his voicemail and the guy that called him back.

Why is it these guys are only brave when there is no one at the other end to call them on their bullshit? As soon as someone called him back he got frightened, stammered about "UH UH you called me back that speaks volumes, I'll write my column using that fact Im busy I gotta go" and hung up.. What a fucking pussy.

My bouncy tale.

So, a few years ago I had my AOL IM on my CU profile. A DU member Im'ed me about being a disgusting rethuglican, I should be ashamed about some comment I made in the Best/Worst forum, blah blah blah then signed off.

I copied the name and put it in my buddy list and waited a few days when they popped back on line and Im'ed her back calling her a chickenshit for blasting me then vanishing.

She denied it was her and said I got the wrong person, her daughter uses her screen name sometimes, yadda yadda yadda and signed off. She blocked me after that.

Also, a cop jumped out of the bushes somewhere.

Moral of the story, these people are only brave when they can be assured no one is there to answer back.

The dolt could come up with a video documenting the slurs he's making accusations about and Andrew Breitbart would pay him the $10,000 reward (http://biggovernment.com/abreitbart/2010/03/25/2010-a-race-odyssey-disproving-a-negative-for-cash-prizes-or-how-the-civil-rights-movement-jumped-the-shark/) that no one has been able to claim to date because...well...no one has been able to produce video documentation.

I'm still trying to decide if I'm happy or sad that it's not the lizard guy.

It is curious how the lizard physically changed and his accent changed with him.

Is the Geico Gecko a Tea Party Crasher Too?
by Matt Kibbe

Why would the voice of Geico Insurance (“Save $50 dollars or more…”) attack the staff and followers of FreedomWorks as “mentally retarded?” Does he really think that the good men and women who make up the tea party movement – mothers and daughters, grandparents and grandchildren – are all potential murderers that will inevitably “actually kill someone?”

Better yet, how many of these “mentally retarded” killers opted to save $50 dollars or more on their car insurance.

Last week, the FreedomWorks press department received a voicemail from a man identifying himself as Lance Baxter. This is what Lance has to say:

We called back to verify Lance’s identity. He said he was busy, but thanked us for the call and said he’d call back. When he didn’t, we followed up to make sure his question had been answered:

Lance Baxter (AKA D.C. Douglas) is a noted voiceover actor. When he is not making creepy harassing calls to groups like FreedomWorks, he is the voice at the end of the Geico commercials.

Feel free to contact Lance. He was so kind to provide his number in the voicemail. Call his employer too. The customer service line for Geico is 800.871.3000.

Let them know that you, in fact, are not a mentally retarded killer, but that you are now in the market for car insurance.

I don't think that the Marvin the Gieko's voice is the one that got fired. I think it was the announcer at the end of the commercial.

Geico will be able to replace the guy in a heartbeat. For crying out loud, that job is so easy a caveman could do it.

This is funny, I don't care who you are.

As for this pinhead, he and people like him are children. As was said, it's easy to leave a cowardly message then run. It's like the little kid in your neighborhood who would hit you with a dirt bomb and run.

I wonder how many people in the Tea Party had their car insured with Geico.

I do and will continue to do so. They've been a wonderful company to me. Besides, they fired this jerkoff.

Or he's a drunk. My college friends and I would get drunk and call the 700 Club line and give them a hard time. They were pretty patient, so I figure they get that a lot.

This is what worried me too lol

The guy at the end of the commercial says one line hell he only needed to say it once. That gecko though, he's the golden goose...
