(New York, NY) -- The man who tried to set off a bomb in Times Square Saturday evening used a type of fertilizer that does not explode.

ABC News reports that the more than 100 pounds of fertilizer found in a metal gun trunk in the SUV was harmless fertilizer, and not ammonium nitrate like what was used in the Oklahoma City bombing.

Sources close to the investigation told ABC News that valves on the three propane tanks found in the vehicle were not open, making it very unlikely the gas would have exploded.

Video images of a person of interest in the case have been released by the NYPD.

Authorities are searching for a white man in his 40s who was spotted leaving the area and pulling off a dark shirt about a half block from where the SUV was parked.

New bumper sticker: If you weren't blown to bits today, thank ehow. :p

I wonder if the guy who did this just thought piling a bunch of stuff he thought was flammable into a truck and blowing off a bottlerocket would magically make a car-bomb?

What an idiot.

This guy was not too swift. Instead of purchasing the cheapest fertilizer on the market, he gets a more expensive kind.

All he could get in the US was cheap Chinese made materials!

We're joking but it was just dumb luck that this guy was a functional illiterate. If he had done it the right way, who knows how many people would be dead or injured? All because this mouth-breather and his buddies can't take a South Park cartoon.
