ABC and Fox recently decided to nix a Lane Bryant ad during American Idol that featured plus sized models in lingerie because it showed too much cleavage: http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2010/04/22/abc-slams-lane-bryant-rejected-plus-size-lingerie-ad/

However, they found it appropriate to have Lady GaGa perform on the same program where she was wearing next to nothing and with dudes wearing next to nothing in a performance that was as close to porn as you're going to get:

Now, Fox ended up relenting and showed the ad but do you think this was a double standard because they were plus sized models?

OT: Is she now, or has she ever been, a dude?

I posted this the other day and it is still true today. Lady Gaga represent all that is wrong with today's music.

Oh I don't know...a singer that actually SINGS is a welcome change from the lip syncers..she has a good voice, what she is wearing is no more bad than Madonna who has been performing for decades, no worse than Alice Cooper who had the same thing said of him...yet here he still is.

She's wearing lingerie and a black wrap...I like it, almost like a cape with some demure aspects. I am actually pleasantly surprised, had never heard Gaga before...nice tones and the choreography is good.

Looking at some of the comments regarding her performances , I am reminded of the God bothering fanatics that said that KISS was "Kids in Satan's Service". The hue and cry when they came here to Sydney, especially from some of the more idiotic fundies died down, right after their first concert.

Plus ca change, plus la meme chose.

One is 'art' the other is selling underwear . . . . The case can be made that with Lady gag-me what she did was performance art - that being said - all of the performers has their naughty bits covered - including her.

The hypocrisy is that they originally rejected the ad. Te reason why they relented was that an exec at Lane Bryant saw them run a Victoria Secret ad and called them on it. It was only then that Fox decided to run the LB ad.

She does have a good voice and I really enjoy a couple of her songs.

I really don't see a double standard. Who wants to see fat chicks in bras when there are plenty of thin ones that are out of work?

No. Mind you, she could use a few more curves, and a little more padding :D

It is apparent hypocrisy. Remember though that FOX isn't a person, it is a large company. Once the hypocrisy was pointed out, they made the right call.
