We have snow. :(

TOTD: You have $10,000 that has to be spent (or promised) within 30 days. You cannot apply any of the money to charity, savings, investments, or other people. You must spend this money on yourself. If you decide to install a putting green in the backyard and your wife also like golf, that's okay but you can't buy something for her that you ordinarily wouldn't have any interest in using yourself.

How do you spend it?

Snow?

I don't think I could build a golf green & maintain it for only $10k. Good idea, though.

But what about inflation, the high cost of steel? They will take 3500.00 right of the top for taxes.:(

Seriously, I'd buy a used pontoon boat and trailer. You can get a good used one for around 6 grand. I'd buy a throw away 4 wheel drive to mud bog in with the left over.

It would go into my 25th anniversary diamond(s) account. I assume that fits the "promised" category.

Now I have to put in more hours so I can add to the lousy 6500.00 so I can buy something. By the time I have it saved up it will probably cost more. Is this Obama money, will our children have to pay it back? Living high off the hawg on money from the sweat off the back of future generations!

Replace everything in the interior of my Porsche which for $10,000 would probably consist of just the seats and the carpeting.

TOTD: Say what you will - but I would prolly spend a large portion of that on books - there are some out of print texts that I have been wanting to add to my library - and while I'm at it - there are some reference texts and other multple volume works I'd love to get as well. Then again - I'd LOVE to get THIS:

Like Rock said, 10 grand is chicken feed.... need to jack it up to 50k, and then I would trade my car in and buy a new Porsche.

Well, if it's any comfort for the snow weary, it's 83 degrees and sunny here in Arizona.

As for the money, I'd finish the restoration on my '77 vette, and probably buy a 1911 in 10mm, or an ACOG for my XCR.

You say we have 30 days to spend $10,000. I'd load up and drive off into the sunset
staying in a different town every night or two till the gas/hotel/food money ran out.

That would be one hell of a vacation. Not sure I could spend 10 grand in 30 days like that, but I could easily tear a big chunk out of it.

Relative to when I bought mine before it reached the $1k level. I am just not a buyer at the current price. I hope I am wrong and it just keeps going up and up.

I hope you are right and that it goes down, because that would be a sign that fiat money inflation isn't in the bidding. However, I suspect that within the next ten years gold will be trading at over $5000 an ounce. Call it a hunch based on history.

One aspect of the increase in the price of gold is that Europeans are scared shitless that the Euro will be monitized (cranking up the printing presses), and they are buying gold as a hedge. I read an article about that this evening on Kitco that gold sales were booming in Greece and other countries. Spain and Portugal will probably be next. What pisses me off is that we are financing 17% of their debt thru the IMF and no telling how much under the table money the Fed is giving them that will never be paid back to us.

I hear ya, LA. I'm just saying that what is happening in Europe IS NOT going to turn around (simple math). It is also a glimpse into to our future unless we get the communists (yes, I said it) out of power in this country and make some sea changes in fiscal policy. Barring that, we are going the way of Greece, Ron Paul was right yet again, and gold will be worth over $5000 and ounce.

Kind of a miniature bull dyke!:D

ya know . . . once upon a time - back in my early days on the internet - when I was still just a teen - I used to chat on WBS before it was taken down. And while chatting on there in one of the Christian rooms I was accused of being a lesbian. I turned on my mic and said in my very natural basso voice - why yes. I am a lesbian. I am in fact a bull dyke. It was a running joke for a long time amongst my chat friends.
