Temps in the moderate range on The Mountain. Rain yesterday and last night. Some really cool thunderstorms came through. I shut down the computers and TV and went out on the deck and watched. Pretty awesome.

That's what I said would be the daythred topic for today.

TOTD: What thing or things do you find to be truly awesome?

Awesome has become a much over-used slang term for anything good or interesting.

Dude, you got an A on the test. That's awesome.

I'm not here to quibble over such usages, but to me the most appropriate use of the word awesome is to describe things that truly inspire awe in the observer.

Whether it be great works of art, or the power and majesty of nature, or the mysteries of faith, what do you find to be truly awesome?

I couldn't get back on the Internet for the rest of the day on Sunday after I did the OP.

God's majesty and love are the ultimate in awesome.

On a lesser scale (to me) the power and beauty of the sea, the amazing power of a storm, and the beauty of the mountains are all awesome to me.
