Because my main pc died recently and i'm working on my laptop and i wonder what is a good pc for gaming?

If gaming is what you're looking for, Windows is still a better platform unless all of your games are for Mac specifically. The general rule of thumb for getting a decent gaming computer is to make sure it has a decent GPU. Of course, that all depends on what games you play and how much you're willing to spend.

I wouldn't say that. I'm not a bi fan of Macs, but if you do things such as audio and video editing, the Mac is a better choice. But for most users, there's no need to shell out extra money for it.

what makes it better?

If I remember Pixar is all Linix and has been for the past 10 + years.

Mac is outdated and all used up.

I find it funny the only thing they have is a phone keeping them alive.

It also surprises me too,on my much computers and the internet have improved over time, because i remember the first computer games were all text based and the first MMOS were MUDS.

Mac OSX is Linux, just a prepriotory shell that Apple developed and sells as their own.

For the comparible price you can get a much more powerful PC than you can a Mac. and it is Apples to Apples now instead of Apples to Oranges (hehe pun intended) since Mac's moved over to the x86 CPU's a few years ago. They are better at somethings, but for the most part they are overpriced PC's.

yeah, most programs have to run in virtual OS's to run in Linux, thus the reason why I only run Windows, too much hassel

It's Axle under another name. What do you expect?

Of course i can tell you that Second Life is way better with Phillip Linden in.

http://blogs.wsj.com/digits/2010/06/24/another-surprise-at-second-life-creator-founder-is-ceo-again/

Like the person's quote says, the former ceo ruined sl.

Good Riddance! Kingdon had destroyed any momentum that Linden Labís Second Life community had accrued during the five years prior to his arrival. He did so by turning on the companyís customers and stealing customer created value to inflate LLís coffers while issuing bogus economic reports. Companies beware - this guy easily makes the Worst CEOs of All-Time list and we pity both the employees and customer base of wherever he ends up after Linden Lab.

Moo!

If it's a game then how come universities and businesses are using it for meetings?

At least i feel it's better than those people who go on Spacebook and play Farmville for two days.

I've also meet people from around the world on it,like Brazillians and such.

So they're using a second rate POS game to conduct business? So what. No matter what you say Fluffy, No Life is a crappy game, nothing more.

By the way Fluffy, that link for UofH sounds more like an advertisement for the game. Didn't see anything about meetings there.

Those people are more productive than the losers you hang out with on No Life Fluffy

Sorry, No Life is nothing but a scam to suck money from the stupid for a crappy on-line game by saying it's something else.

Don't let people put you down because of secondlife, someday they'll realise that the internet, secondlife included, is only a medium for communication, and it's no worse than spending hours on these forums. I've talked to people around the world that I would never have met. I have visited countries feeling secure knowing I had someone to guide me around freely because I took the time to talk to them in SL.

No time to waste for make believe humanoid animals in virtual relationships." and "For an old schooler, secondlife is essentially IRC with advertisements. Neat to check out once or twice and see what's up with the underground stuff, but then it gets old quick.".

Why don't you keep your No Life discussions there then. Nobody here cares one bit about your stupid game. Too bad your too much of a fucking loser to understand this fact.

Why should I care what a bunch of morons playing a second rate on line game for idiots have to say? Guess what Fluffy....I don't. In fact, I laugh at them for being suckers, spending their money on a piece of shit game. PT Barnum said there's a sucker born every minute...and they're all playing Second Life.

Not quite. OS X is still its own derivative from its own Mach kernel, but it uses FreeBSD utilities that were incorporated into NextStep. It couldn't use any kind of Linux tool because of the GPL license.

sorry, not Linux, Unix. However, there are Linux kennels that are sold for profit, Red Hat, SUSE, and Solaris (which use to be proprietary, but is now open source)

Right, and that's a good thing. The interesting thing about Linux is that it looks recession proof. I don't think Red Hat turned a major loss yet and in fact, they're making sizable profit increases every quarter.

But why? I remember when the number of people who were logged in back in 2008 were 8,543,45 not 6,433,23. That is one of the reasons i sold my club and land to someone else,I wasn't going to have a club with only a few people in it. IMHO,LL could do more to advertise SL. By:

1. fixing logins.
2.fixing sim crossings
3.allowing billboards at welcome areas
4.decreasing the price on tier
5.advertising SL on tv and the internet.
6. bringing the price of openspace back to what they were before dec. 2008.
7. making the cost of a whole sim like $10,Inworldz has them at $30 or something.

BTW,you mad?

oh and that "Game that shall not be mentioned" isn't really a game, there is nothing to do. an MMO should have a game play element to it. aka WoW, Warhammer, SW:TOR, LOTRO, SWG, EVE, etc...go "play" your retard game
