Hey! At least I didn't post it in breaking news...

A Beverly Hills judge on Monday ordered actress Lindsay Lohan (http://topics.breitbart.com/Lindsay+Lohan/) to wear an alcohol monitoring bracelet and submit to random drug testing (http://topics.breitbart.com/drug+testing/) after she failed to appear for a court date last week.

Lohan, 23, landed in hot water last Thursday after she missed a court date to address allegations that she had violated the terms of her probation from a 2007 drink drive case by skipping alcohol education classes.

Lohan finally arrived at the Beverly Hills Court House (http://topics.breitbart.com/Beverly+Hills+Court+House/) on Monday -- seven minutes late -- to face Judge Marsha Revel (http://topics.breitbart.com/Marsha+Revel/) to fix bail conditions (http://topics.breitbart.com/bail+conditions/) ahead of a probation violation (http://topics.breitbart.com/probation+violation/) hearing rescheduled for July 6.

Revel rejected calls by Lohan's lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley (http://topics.breitbart.com/Shawn+Chapman+Holley/) for the actress not to have to wear the alcohol monitoring bracelet and for her to be allowed to undergo drug testing in Texas, (http://topics.breitbart.com/texas/) where she is working on a movie.

"She needs to submit to random drug testing here, not in Texas," Revel said. "It's no excuse to say 'I'm in Texas, so I can't show up.' Because then it's not random. So she's going to have delay that for now because it's going to prevent her from complying with the court order."
Revel said Lohan must also attend all her upcoming alcohol education classes and may only miss a session if it clashed with a random drug test. (http://topics.breitbart.com/drug+test/)

I think she wants to serve time at this point. Nothing else could explain her behavior.

It isn't uncommon for addicts whose lives are spinning out of control to do something (or a series of somethings, in this case) that will force the legal system to take action and force them into rehab or jail. It's a kind of psychological defense mechanism. I expect to see Lindsay on an upcoming season of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. I assume that at least 3 or 4 of the people from last season will be back: Heidi Fleiss, that Mike guy from Alice in Chains, and that Carrie girl who kept changing her clothes constantly.

I'm not sure I buy in to that. As a recovering person I never wanted to stop using and after a point I was drinking so much that it was bound to a negative effect on my decision making process. I basically gave in to the desire of the moment and to heck with the consequences. I figured I'd deal with them later. I often tell people that the morning of the last day I drank and drugged I had no idea that it was going to be my last day as an active addict.

I'm not saying it works that way for everyone who has addictions. She's young, her addictive behavior isn't so set in stone

She really is young. Her family sucks. She's been running her own show for some time now. I think she's no different from any number of young adults who have the means to screw themselves over. She's just doing it in a large way on the public stage.

Sadly, I'm not sure she has the talent, intellect, or favor of Hollywood to stage a recovery/comeback in the style of Robert Downey, Jr.
