My dad's a 'nam vet. Pretty cool guy too. He was an 0341 and I want to say he was in 1/5, but there's a very good chance I'm mistaken on that. I'll have to give him a call later to find out. Anyway, he was all for the war, hated the hippies that lost it for us, yet somehow, even to this day, he loves the protest music.

I love Janis' version.

I grew up in the sixties and early seventies. I remember these songs very well. I was scared witless that I would turn 18, get drafted, and my white country boy ass would get sent to Vietnam.

I would have done my duty, just how I was raised, but damn when you watch the war on the evening news and see the body count every week it was a scary thing.

Anyway, the war, and the draft, ended before I turned 18.

God bless the vets. Mad respect to them all.

I have a neighbor named Sam. Good guy. Vietnam Vet.

Crew chief/door gunner on a Huey 1967 - 1968 and during the Tet offensive.

He was 18 years old in Vietnam. He said he would hear this song and just feel like crying....
