What was something people got a good laugh out of that most of us haven't thought about in years?

I can't find video of the actual commercial. If someone with better google skills can find it, I'd appreciate it.

It will be in the high 80s today with possible T-storms this afternoon. It's flash flood time out here and already some tourists have bought the farm while tubing.

TOTD: I'll think about it.

We're in the midst of a nice rainstorm...Mr. Smith started a new walking program this morning and got caught out in it...next time, he's going to walk in his swim trunks. :D:D

TOTD: I remember Billy Beer, but not the commercial.

This is the line I like. I saw clips of it on I Love the '70's.

Billy Carter: I had this beer brewed just for me. I think it's the best I've ever tasted. And I've tasted a lot.

TOTD: 'Pinky and the Brain'. For it's time, that had to be the most intelligent show on TV. :)

I remember that when Billy Beer was coming to an end, there was a dance contest and the prizes were awarded as such:

1st place: 1 case of Billy Beer
2nd place: 2 cases
3rd place: 3 cases

It's sunny and cool, here. It's not supposed to get above 75 degrees. A good day to cut the grass.

TOTD: The City of Detroit is in the process of destroying an old housing project that I pass on my way to the office. There is a way cool metal jungle gym on the grounds-the kind we have deemed too dangerous for our kids by modern standards. It's the dome-type, silver metal with red and blue spots where the metal tubes connect. It also looks fairly rust-free. I spent much of my childhood playing at parks or schools that had similar fixtures.

Remember when parents used make fun of their children who got injured while playing on such things, instead of demanding that all playgrounds be made safer?

Hey, Don't forget Animaniacs and Freakazoid. They rank right up there with Pinky and The Brain.

I remember when the mentioning of the word "Knockers" inspired thought of these:

Whenever any of us got seriously injured (large amounts of blood, broken bones, etc.) the parental default mode was "That's what happens when you (fill in the lame excuse)." And there was simply no situation where this attitude could be defeated. If space aliens had beaten one of us with a rake, my mother would have been demanding to know what we said to them to set them off.

I was about 10 years and me and several of my friends were jumping off of this old abandoned house to the ground below. I had made a couple jumps and was making my next one. Back then bell bottoms were in vogue and one proble with bell bottoms was that if they fit right, you would wear a hole into the bottom back of the legs with your heel over time. That was in the condition my pants were in. I took a running start, made my leap, but at the moment I leaped, a nail got hung up on the hole at the back of my bell bottoms. It snagged me just enough to tip me off balance. I sailed off of the roof of that old house in a position not unlike Superman in full flight. I landed flat on my face and skidded a couple of feet peeling a shitload of skin off of my face.

My friends ran to me to see if I was unhurt. I rolled over on my back, blood spewing from my nose and busted lips, the wind knocked out of me but I was still able to moan, "Don't tell my mom what happened. Don't tell my mom!"

My step-brother and a friend were riding a tandem bike in the parking garage of a condo one day. What they were doing was riding around and the guy on the back would grab the pipes above while the other guy rode off. Well, my step brother went to grab a pipe but didn't grab it right, fell off and cracked his head on the concrete. He spent a few days in the hospital. Sad thing is, in todays day and age, the stories of our stupidity would draw a lawsuit now.

I hit my head on a bar that hung from the swingset. I didn't duck low enough when playing tag. I had a goose egg on my head the next day for school photos. This is still a joke in my family. No retakes for the photo, no doctor's visit to rule out a concussion. My mom always said it was a good thing the pictures were taken that day, because the next day, in addition to the goose egg, I had two black eyes.

I look really dazed in the picture, though. The bar was swinging on two chains (to use for gymnastics), and it hit me right on the forehead. My math skills began to decline shortly after the injury.

During the summer there like 12 of us that ran together in a pack. Among us over half had scrapes and bruises at one time or another. A couple would have stitches and there would even be a cast or tqwo worn by someone in our group. During our "activites" someone would bleed even if just a little. No one freaked out or anything (unless there was a bone showing or the blood was spewing for a couple of feet).

Last night on Tuner Classic Movies I watched Old Yeller. I remember that there was an Arliss or two in our group. Little kids younger than us that were for all intents and purposes wild children. Almost to the point of feral. I don't recall seeing kids like in decades.

The question that MUST be asked is,

What do cats think it is?
