WASHINGTON ó President Obama urged the Israeli government to loosen its blockade of Gaza on Wednesday, as the United States continued to scramble to find a way out of the stalemate in the Middle East and address the outcry over Israelís deadly raid on a Gaza-bound flotilla last week.

Mr. Obama, meeting with the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, at the White House, also promised a $400 million aid package for the West Bank and Gaza, though only about $70 million represented a new commitment. White House officials said the money would be spent on housing, schools, efforts to provide access to drinking water and other health and infrastructure projects.

Honestly though (and this is going to sound like heresy to some), I feel bad for the Palestinians. The ones who just want a place to live have been used as pawns by Jordan, Syrian, Iran and just about every other Middle Eastern shithole for generations.

That's not saying the solution is for Israel is to give up more land, far from it (Even if Helen Thomas is too much of a dumbass to realise there were Jews in that part of the world before the holocaust).

Here's a solution: why don't we tell Jordan, Lebanon and Syria to give the Palestinians back the land they stole from them in the fucking first place?

I can understand and relate - and you're right. The Average Joe Arab living in palestine has been nothing but a pawn throughout this whole thing. Of course this does not make it Israels fault.

It is obvious who's side Obama has chosen. He has his picture taken with Abbas and refuses to with Netanyahu.
He has picked his side and will now ignore our only ally in the Mideast.
This will embolden their enemies and nothing good will come of this.

Anyone that believes that a portion of that $400 million will not go for weapons is living in la la land.

It is becoming obvious that Obama will get us in another war. it is anyones guess who we will be fighting.

It's either that or he will refuse to come to Israel's aid.

Odds are he'd join in a war AGAINST Israel.

All my life I have heard different talking heads say that it didn't matter that much who is president because presidents don't have all that much power. I never bought it before and it's being proven now, a president has as much power as he wants to take!

I look for that to happen about a month or two before the 2012 Prez election.

He might find out that his control outside our borders is not as effective as he thinks it is. As more countries good and bad realize how weak kneed he is, a war he does not expect may drop in his lap and then God help us all.

Especially with the clarity of hindsight, I used to wonder how Neville Chamberlain could have ever sold his policies to the public. How could so many be so niave...

The left's capacity for pure stupidity is shining again. With recent history available for reference, it can't be called ignorance. It's pure stupidity.

He'd have a hard time convincing our military leaders to do so. You very well might see Obama order us into combat against Israel and end up seeing the Pentagon tell him to go pound sand. He may be commander in chief but there's no way our military obeys that order. And if our military tells him to stick it in his ass, what's he going to do about it?

If it meant getting re-elected, you can your sweet ass he would. Plus, I am of the opinion, that is the ONLY way he can get a second term. With a piss poor economy, high unemployment, higher taxes and screwed up health care, his chances are slim to none.

His base would not tolerate a war against anyone EXCEPT Israel.

Independents make up around 30% of voters; the other 2/3 is split between the R's & D's. Therefore, a candidate for Prez can not win a race unless he/she gets the majority of Independents voters. In my opinion, Independent and Republicians would rally around the Prez in the event of a war with Iran or another commie country. That is the only way I see him winning in 2012. It is true that opposition would come from the left wing liberal fringe nuts. The ACLU and other lefties want the war to stop but they are not calling for Obama's head like they were doing with Bush. When push comes to shove, liberals will hold their nose and vote for Obama just like I did with McCain. BTW, any Democrat voting for impeachment would be political suicide.

I am not stating Obama would attack anyone. He is such a pussy that he would go running to the UN for help if we were attacked. My point is that the only way he has a chance of getting re-elected is if the voters rally around him if something like 9/11 happened again. BTW, I don't think he is qualified to be a Dog Catcher.

Bush had his faults but he told the UN and the world when it came to our national security we needed no one's permission to protect ourselves. and no attacks on his watch except for 9-11 which i consider Clintons fault. my opinion

NOW terriorist are coming out of the wood work at us. they found our weak spot. right above Osama's neck.

Hezbollahs were countered by Maronites recently. I admire maronites for this, even though I don't care to share their faith.(it has little meaning to me, and lip service is dishonorable)
